Obv this is carand gearbox dependant, but today after doing some hard graft on my Nova took it up to some private land my mate owns and gave it a quick blast as hasnt seen a high speed for a while and its 1st time has been tested since new turbo was fitted.

This is what it did

1st 47 (limiter)
2nd 73 (limiter)
3rd 115 (limiter)
4th 142 (limiter)
5th 165
6th 182 (got scared and only 500 under running out of steam)
R 47

Anyone else on here with track car close on the gearing?

GPS, speedo was runs out at 140 lol.
and i dont do that speed normaly.
I tend to drive my 1.6 as a daily car.

hitting the limiter won't do any harm...that is why the limiter is in place after all.

Mine can do whatever a standard vtr can do on vts wheels & I have no idea what my golf can do because the speedo has stopped working.

Depends on how the limiter works - cutting fuel or cutting ignition, on some the cut of fuel can make an engine go lean at top end causing problems.

thats with cams, induction kit, backbox and fuel regulator..

I do belive back in the day, the standard LET could do 150mph in the calibras/cavaliers.

So considering its got twice the power of a normal LET. so in a smaller car with less weight it would reach higher speeds anyway.. so 32mph more aint much.

Never really test my in gear speeds. IIRC my powerhouse of an engine produces peak power at 5000rpm, so theres not point going up to the limiter. I don't go anywhere near 5000rpm anyway.

When i'm in traffic, and I accelerate/ease off in 1st gear, the gearstick lurches forward/back, so fudge knows what would happen if I took it to nearly 30mph in first.

My gearbox is shit anyway, just waiting for it to blow up if i'm honest.

They dont last long tho.

Put an old set of wheels on it few months back.. each tyre had 2mm of tread. it was only to test the car after some engine work.. just went round my mates land 3 times... Wheelspining on pull off and heavy braking.
