is it going to cost us loads to text, or is it under the normal text plan.

Cost you money to text. It's a completely different country so roaming charges apply.

Costs money plus they have different networks over there like meteor etc compared to O2 so depending what network they are on they won't actually get the text...

You can send them to them at no extra cost
it will cost them a bit to reply dpending on there roaming charges
