I've resprayed my steelies about a month ago, the banded wannabe look :), although at the time the masking tape wouldn't stick to the tyre and now the outer ring is flaking, the lip part. Masking tape will not stick to the tyre and I desperately need to sort this out, does spray paint powerwash off tyres or can I get a certain type of masking tape to stick to the tyre?

I've tried washing the tyre multiple times but still won't stick. Any help appreciated.

clean the tyre with paint thinners or nail varnish remover then it will stick like it does to any other surface.

If the wheel is contaminant free and completly dry masking tape should stick. If not as above just try strong adhesive tape and clean the tyre later

Thanks guys, I'll try the nail polish remover and if that doesn't work then I'll just use strong adhesive tape.

your better off buying some degreaser, anything like nail varnish remover or thinners, theres a slight chance you will eat into the actual rubber.
