Define 'detail' when a machine polisher wasn't used.
Looks good nontheless.
VinceVTS
14th September 2010, 14:11
is that not a detail then just because i havent used a machine polisher, maybe i will edit it for basic valet ???

Woodys. A DA/Rotary isn't required for a detail. Thats correction work.
Nice work Vince. How did you find SSR 2.5 by hand?

Detail is just in depth clean isnt it?
The paint looks fine so why would he machine polish it any way.
EDIT: too late gunna look like a sheep now.

No they don't. I'm sure you tried saying this the other day and got corrected by more than one person.
EDIT: Reading some other advice you've put i'd say you're certainly not someone to listen to anyway lol. Straight to a rotary ignoring the DA? We like our paint, thanks.

A wax and a sealent will both protect the paintwork, i aint saying you cannot use the two together because you can, all im saying is I personally wouldnt use both together because you wont see hardly any difference in results.
Ch!p, nobdoy has to listen to what i say its there choice to do what they wana do im only saying it from my point of view, i know alot of people who have started out with a rotary rather than a da, all i would say is if your going to use a rotary from start is you have to be careful with it ie what speed settings etc if you are careful with what your doing then there wont be any damage done to paintwork.

But why would you start with a rotary when your chances of damaging the paintwork are a lot higher!
Plus sealant locks stuff in, wax keeps stuff out. They aren't entirely the same and i'm pretty certain 90% of people on here wouldn't do one without the other if they were doing a proper detail.

Also, not to argue with you too much. Just a question for you...
We seal and (some of us) wax our car's to protect them, yes? So why not get the maximum amount of protection that you can?
To me sealing it but not waxing it seems a bit like wearing a jonny but sticking pin's through it first.
Sorry to the OP. You did well on the car pal :y:

If you wanted more protection.. just layer the wax......
sealing it and then not waxing is hardly like wearing a johny but sticking a pin through it... then you will have NO protection :clapping:

Sneaky edit :D
But anyway, i do layer wax. But as i say... To me it just seems stupid. Detail your car and then try to protect it but don't go all the way?
To me it sounds like a council job. Half arsed.
Maybe it is just my opinion... But i'm sticking with it lol.

I think we should just leave it as that now, i personally think that a wax and a sealent do pretty much the same thing ill stick to that.. i aint going to argue my point anymore as it will go on and on so that will be me finished, i dont want to fall out with anyone about it im only putting my point across.
Thank you :)

Personally I seal and wax (after polishing) but only because I love red mist too much not to not use it and I love orange crush way too much to not use it :afro:
For a quick top up, red mist. Re-apply of wax, orange crush. I only apply both if a machine polish has taken place.
