How good are Rangers these days?

agreed they are a good team........
In scotland, but history shows they aint good enough to match the best in the premier league or seria a, bundersiega etc.
Utd will win though

Rangers are just as big a team as Man utd. They are known all over the world. Still think they will get beaten though...

IMO, I think they are... I don't support Rangers, neither do I really like football, but they are a massive team, especially in Japan and so forth

Being a big well known team around the world is very different to being a big well known succesful team.

So far so good!
Lafferty to sneak a 1-0 for Gers, and Rooney to get his legs broken. ;)

0-0 and boring as hell. Rangers are just sitting back.

14th September 2010, 19:43
Same as they did against Barca. Doesnt make for good football, but if you know youre going up against a great team, why push forward and take a beating?
Tom
14th September 2010, 19:46
It's the best way for them to get a result, of course. Man U have got a heavily weakened team out today as well, 10 changes from the weekend.
Edit: Rooney is back though....

14th September 2010, 19:52
Same way we managed to get to the Uefa Cup Final. Sit back and nick 1-0 wins.

Awful break for valencia.
Watched it a couple of times, could hear the crack when the leg/ankle went + see the fact there was alot more movement in the leg than there should be.

14th September 2010, 20:20
it would be a decent result for rangers though if it stayed this way

14th September 2010, 20:32
6 minutes of added time?!
Must be playing Man Utd eh..

Last time i checked valencia didnt just get up and float into a stretcher after the injury he suffered, or do you think that the time for injurys do not get added on :zainy:
Not been a great game tonight, bloody boring infact I wont be watching any more rangers games in the CL if they play like they have just shutting the game down.

Most teams would've sat back against Man Utd at Old Trafford in the Champions League. Maybe to not such an extent, but still..
Thank fuck that's over. Happy with a 0-0!

Terrible injury that, hopefully he's not out for too long but looks like he could be out for the season.

thats a good result. Play to your strengths. If youre good enough to sit in for 90mins against man u and not concede, youre doing well.

The Valencia break was horrid.
He seems to have dislocated and then broken the ankle, he then held it up in the air in shock.
That his season fucked poor lad, that kinda injury could end him mentally in this game, look at Eduardo

Did either of you watch the match? Rangers were defending with 11 players and never attacked, we were sitting outside their box the whole match. Whats the point in competing in the CL when your not even going to try and win a match? Pathetic from supposidly best team in scotland they wouldnt last a second in the premiership.

I love how much you're sticking up for football lol 22 fully grown men running about a pitch half naked.... Not really for me, but whatever floats your boat.
Rangers aren't necessarily(sp) the best, just one of....

It was the exact same at world cup mate, the smaller nations like new zealand etc not trying to win games against the bigger opposition, its just what happens these days!
Also if Rangers and Celtic were allowed into the premiership then obviously they would get a million times more money so therefore better! One season in the premiership would wipe out Rangers' debt and make them a profit! Even if they finished last!

Was a shite game, had the Gers fans sat in the block above me.
For me the game was summed up by the fans reaction at FT, they were ecstatic with the draw...

disappointing game; rangers did a good job at the back and didn't give alot of freekicks away around the box. Gibson was unlucky not to have scored.
Its still early doors and I expect United to field a stronger team on their next outing in this competition.

I think Fergie had most of his mind on the weekends game, Liverpool ! :P
Not a bad result I dont think, still a point and I can still see them topping the group. I would rather see United beat Liverpool than Rangers !
Nightmare for Valencia thats a huge blow :( and he is in my pissing dream team !!

I think you will find that it was you who did not watch the match
According to Uefa’s statistics, Rangers even had more one more effort on target, four to United’s three. The Scots certainly had the best shout for a penalty when Chris Smalling brought down Broadfoot.

United didn't perform at all really. In the end all we could rely on is gibsons efforts from the just outside the penalty area, which didn't cut it. Rangers made things very hard for us and we need a bit of class or luck. I think berbatov would've changed the game. His positional play and holding of the ball, as well as his technical skills would have given us that bit of class or luck we needed. Odd team selection, I think it was a combination of underestimating rangers tactics (play for a 0-0 draw, but nick a goal on the conunter if possible) and the fact we have liverpool on Sunday. Really hope he plays G Nev just for his celebrations!
