Ok, to start with this guy wernt out to scam me, but now its turning into that case as he's just started to try n pull a fast one with paypal...
Basically bought a T25 Turbo off him, heres the thread:
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280799
Now i recived the turbo last week. Im completley new to turbos n stuff and as pathetic as it sounds this is the first one ive ever hheld lol.
The one he sent me, isnt the same as the one in the pic..the thread quotes "Has the standard recirc dump valve blanked off so a atmospheric one can be added in the boost pipework." yet the one i recived still had it on...I didnt care too much about this as its only £20 to have it welded up.
Took it to be welded up today and found theres cracks all over the exhaust housing, going in different directions.
Hes telling me that this isnt a problem :S yet my mate who works with turbos day in day out building 1000 bhp cars all the time says it is obviously a problem with them heating up and down all the time the cracks are obviously going to get larger etc. Surley its common sense its a problem?
So earlier on, i contacted him and he seemed understanding, I either wanted another turbo housing which was fine, or a partial refund to get this one repaired. He seemed fine saying this is a turbo he bought off his mate and he was going to sort it out with a solution. (il provide PS of this in a min)
Then next message hes saying my mate is telling me bullshit about it being unusable and how the cracks are not a problem, as he had had taken it off his tomcat running 13psi (a min ago he bought it off his mate).
Now recived a message saying the pics ive taken are not the turbo he sent me. So basically saying im trying to scam him by sending pics of another turbo that is broken :panic:. He also said he sent pics of the turbo he sent me to paypal and informed them.
Ive checked paypal, no dispute open, so ive opened one explaining the situation as i have done here.
Il upload the pics of the cracks and the PMs he sent me today now.

I kno, I think he wanted to get out of paying me any money back or sorting it out n realised id go to paypal, so he made out he got to paypal first n come up with a plan to make my claim invalid. See how it goes. Found quite a few details out on him already.

Sorted out fairley quick. Paypal have decided im elegible for a full refund not just the £55 i requested and got this message:
After careful review, we have determined that you are eligible for a refund. To qualify for this refund, please send the items whose claims were granted back to the seller in their original condition and keep your tracking information. You are responsible for postage and packing costs.
Easy. Still not over though untill he recives it :n:
Makes me laugh how it says in original condition, does that mean broken then? :S

Yeh, I only opended this thread as soon as he started saying that the images wernt of his turbo and that he had informed paypal of this, beliveing i was there trying to scam him.
Should be sorted out now anyway providing he dosent try anything on when it comes to the delivery of it, saying he hasnt recived or trying to say it isnt his turbo still. Just in case the messages are there, but I do trust he wants this sorted out and this should hopefully be the end of it.

Just for the record, cracks spreading from the wastegate port are common and when hairline like the ones on that one you've bought, don't cause any problems. They have to be pretty bad to cause a problem (and then the only problem will be it wont be able to hold high boost). I'd have kept that turbo tbh - especially if you're planning on going external wastegate and getting the internal wastegate welded shut anyway.
FYI: note pics of turbo 50% down page on this thread: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=264588. All is well.

End of the day, he's new to boost, just think its best if everything is perfect for the first time
if this was like his 3rd setup or somthing then yeah maybe, but in reality, if your new to something you fear it going tits up.
As you said it wont be able to hold high boost, ive read a fair few progress threads to know people get used to the boost and turn it up a few months later, again since its his first set up i dont think hes gonna want to do all this work... to rip it apart and fit a bigger turbo JUST because theres cracks

Sounds like he did try to scam you with the whole "thats not my turbo" bullshit, even if hairline cracks are ok if they wern't described then it is a scam!
Ross

yeah totally agree :)
I thought I read though that he was getting it welded up (presumably for external wastegate setup?) so it was a non-issue.
Hope it gets resolved for the chap either way :)
