get it to TDC
once the cam covers off theres one hole for the camshaft and one that locks the flywheel at the front of the gear box
i did mine like this:
1. remove cam cover (top)
2. get engine to TDC
3. remove drivers wheel
4. remove wheel arch liner
5. remove aux belt
6. remove the big pully which the aux belt goes on
7. remove lower casing
8. slacken tensioner
9. remove timing belt or leave in place but remove from cam pulley
10. remove 8 head bolts irc using a ten mil socket (round one fits)
11. remove coolant hoses, sensors, throttle cable etc from inlet manifold
12. remove down pipe from exhaust manifold
13. head including inlet and exhaust manifold should lift off
14. if head needs skimming then remove exhaust and inlet manifolds of course
15. remove old gasket and thoroughly clean the head and block especially as bits get PROPER stuck
reverse steps for reassembly and remember to correctly tension belt and torque/angle tighten head bolts
thats all i can remember from 2 years ago
