Right this is an interesting one got a Mk2 VTS. Got home tonight and switched the car off and took out the key but it kept running :geek:

Only way to stop it was to stall it. But then you could still here the inlet manifold hissing so I assume the fuel pump was still running. So ive disconnected the battery too.

I picked up the car from the garage this morning so I assume they have fudged something up :n:
Took it too them as it wouldnt start so a guy came and towed it away. Apparently it was the fuel pump relay wiring. I am thinking this could be the same problem as when I opened the bonnet the relay has now been attached to the top of my ecu with about a mile of insulation tape and looks a proper bodge.
So they are going to get a mouth full on monday. Just wanted a second opinion on this problem before I go accusing them of this as well

:n:

yeah the ignition relay is what controls all the power to the the fuel pump and ignition. My guess is that they've fucked something right up so you're getting constant live to the main engine components

Thats what I thought. £165 for towing the car to the garage up the road and fitting a new relay was steep in my opinion anyway they could have atleast done it properly :n:

Where abouts in the curcuit is the stop solenoid?

When I drove it 10mins home from the garage it was fine. Only when I used it last night the problem occured

I thought diesels used a solenoid to stop fuel hence turn engine off? Maybe I am thinking of something else though.

according to haynes its only the desiel modles that have these

So assuming he has just wired something incorrectly. Just dont see how its an intermittant thing. If he had made something a permenant live it would do it all the time I would have thought.
