friend of mine bought a cat C VTR many years ago with 6000 miles on the clock with the intention of re-shelling it, a project that he abandoned and locked away in the back of an old Mercedes 310D truck. Decided he was moving house and so needed to move some of his gear so i've ended up with it for spares, I've never seen an engine so clean inside, remember him buying the car when they were worth re-shelling and since then he has just taken off all the parts salvageable for a re-shell job and stored them, do i now look for a mechanically wankered Saxo and rebuild or just sell the parts on? Even the beam and gearbox have the as-new sheen to them!

well its what you want, obv the running gear and engine, will fetch a mint compared to things with 80k on,you could prob sell it as is for a good bit

but then you could find another car and have one of the lowest mileage saxo's there is :)

thats the temptation Nath, to build a low mileage motor but then i'd only treat it like shite and rack up loads of miles on it!

wouldnt it be quite hard to prove that the parts are low mileage if youre selling them separately? id build an immaculate saxo and store it away for ten years then sell it for loads

any pics of this?

lol, yeah righto!! the front end is sat on a pallet and been cut straight across the floor, its totally in kit form.
As for proving mileage, only way of checking it is the MOT database, its been stored for past 7 years at least

Rebuid it to standard condition and get it all legal and proved to be such low milage. Then sell it on for a good price

its well beyond rebuilding lol, unless i could find an as new shell to do the mechanics justice, besides if i was to carry out any sort of project it'd be a mk1, don't have enough time for rebuilds, too busy cutting them up lol

i think mate get a solid shell and make a standard low milage motor. will fetch a bomb if you can prove it all and everything

Don't see the point of the low mileage if its gonna be a tottally different shell, ok you could do it to something like a classic mini which you can buy heritage shells New, but this is just gonna be a say 90,000 mile shell, interior, etc etc with 6000 mile engine box, struts, driveshafts, rear beam.

only one option really and thats to sell the part.s

If I were you, I'd sell all the parts and buy a little project to work on and use the money on that.

no projects, aside from which the pile of parts from it is rapidly dwindling
