how common is it for the VTS to have a head crack or block crack? has anyone on here had this happen to them? im in the process of diagnosing a large oil leak i have from around the head gasket area- however the car has no mayonaise in the fillers or water.

any ideas appreciated!

I had a similar problem, it turned out to be a leak in the cooling system

just because you don't have mayo in the system doesn't mean the head gasket is ok, in fact the Citroen engines are very prone to oil leaks from the head gasket in the front corner near the timing belt end of the engine

As above, just about every TU engine i've seen has some weeping from around the alternator area. Head needs skimmed and new gasket if you want it sorted.

Thanks for all the input, I was in the process of taking the cambelt off and checked for oil etc- itr turns out one of the camshaft oil seals that I replaced in march had moved forward allowing oil to come out of the engine, run down then come out of the belt cover just beside where the head meets the bottom end. God knows how the oil seal came out?! Any ideas?! So it's looking like that's the
Problem phew!
