Was a website. Submitted a load of stuff and half a dozen of them got used which was nice.

A few enquiries from drivers too, which was also nice.

great pics mate, weather conditions look abit of a nightmare, if you fiddle with the levels you can get abit more kick out of the images, as the whether has made them look a little flat, nice work though mate

Yeah cheers mate, I just resized and bunged them up quickly. I usually do a bit of post processing to bump them up a bit, but not much.

The weather was a massive factor for most of them. Thing is I like my photos to show what was there

dave will you be down at brands hatch for the FIA World Touring Car Championship on may 20 - 21, as i may go along. Also do you have to pay normal ticket prices or do you manage to get in on a press pass.

i could really do with a longer lens for my canon 10d about a 300mm (i already have a 28-135mm),any advice on what to get, dont wanna spend more that about £250 and am happy to get a 2nd hand one and if it is also compatible with my canon eos 5 35mm slr it would be a bonus. on www.warehouseexpress.com they have a sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro DG for £158 is that any good.
any help would be apprechiated
cheers mate

I will be down there but won't have media access.

With your lens your options will be seriously limited as to what shots you can get of track action. 300mm at Brands is the minimum but to start getting nice results you need to look for 400mm or so...

I'm not a fan of Sigma's consumer grade lenses but you can get some ok results with them. I have found them too slow (focus speed and f-stop) and not that sharp. I had a 70-300 like the one you are talking about and sold it. Also had a 135-400 (which wasn't too bad really) but again focused very slowly for the use I wanted it for.

I think you will be let down by a lens covering that focal length in that price range - no matter what manufacturer.

Simo has a 70-300 Sigma....

yeh i think you right, at the end of the day there is no point wasting £200 on something that isnt very good im better to invest £500 on something that has much better optics and will last.

cheers for the advice mate

i have been looking into the Canon 70-200 L f4 and can get one for about £400, is that a good price and also what is it like with a x1.4 or x 2 extention ring on it do i loose a lot of quality and does it work out cheaper to buy this and the extention ring than the 100-400mm version

love that new f430 pic mate smileys/smiley20.gif

The Canon 70-200f4L is a great lens for the money and £400 is a good price - is that a UK lens though? If not watch out with warranties.

Add a 1.4x teleconverter and the quality and autofocus speed is still there. Add the 2x and where image quality might not suffer too much, you will lose 2 stops and your autofocus function. What about a Sigma 70-200f2.8? Have you thought about one of those? Only about £100 more than the f4 Canon, and add a 2x TC and you can have autofocus, and a much faster aperture, f5.6 vs f8!

If you want a zoom up to 400mm the 100-400L is also a good lens but people rue it's slow aperture. It'll be fine for wildlife and stuff like that, these are about £1k

I use mine with a Canon 1.4x TC and I don't notice much difference. Highly recommended!
