With winter coming I want to underseal the car. Can anyone share a good method?
I was going to clean, wire brush and surface rust, then black hammerite for a good finish, then waxoyl. Would that do? Any good products to use for rust?
Thanks

the spray on waxoyl isnt really meant for areas highly exposed.
Such as under the car and wheel arches. (thats from hammerite themselves as i did wonder which to use).
Use the under body seal, think it only comes in black now.
The normal waxoyl comes off to easy, such as with a power hose.
I bought the high pressure spray gun, tbh its shit! lol
Underbody seal and a paint brush ftw, i also have spray can thats shit to but ideal for places you cant reach.
Its horrible stuff and a pain to get off, so wear shit clothers and don't do it on mammy and daddys newly paved drive.

i wouldnt use the waxoyl as to be honest its a pretty shite protectant if you give your underbody a good clean and degrease then leave to dry i would then paint by brush with u-pol rubberize gravi tex underbody seal its basically wrappint the under of your car with a big sheet of rubber stops all water getting to the metal and also reduces noise and stones and shit just bounces off it its great stuff and audis now come with it as standard..:y:

Ive done mine with this, did it about 6-8 weeks ago now and its still on fine and ive done a few very long trips including wet weather.
It doesnt dry rock solid so it doesnt crack, and if a stone were to chip it, it creeps so sort of self heals itself.
I basically did the back then the front. Got it on axle stands and removed the wheels, covered up exhaust pipes with newspaper. Removed all loose dirt/rust with wire brush then went over it with a drill with the wirebrush fitting you can get. Got it back to bare metal in some places.
Then went over it with degreaser, waited for it to dry. Applied a thick coat of the stuff then next day gave it another coat.
Didnt drive the car for 5 days after I painted it and stayed away from wet roads/weather for a couple weeks (Y)

if you use the above it is basically a etch primer a paint and a rubberzor in one its great stuff i did my ek9 with this stuff and there is still no rust spots and just jet washes spotless even after going off at the tracks. can be brushed on or sprayed on using a gravi tex gun .

Sorry for bumping an old topic, but one thing with underseal is that say when you apply it in the wheel arches, as it doesn't dry even if you leave it a day, one you go to put the wheel arch liners back in where they touch the udnerseal it just rubs it off as they need a bit of force to get them in
Will this upol stuff be resistant to this?
Cheers

Gotta do my welded up arches tonight - flap disk on any old surface rust, jenolite rust killer and then etch primer and paint.
off topic - Anyone tried Bilthamber Deox C? Its amazing providing you dunk the part in it and leave it overnight, no rust on the part left by morning.

My dad has always used Old engine oil mixed with a bit of diesel and greace.
It lasts for years, seals and is water replant.
