i have noticed when i start my car first thing it burns a bit of oil [blue smoke] now i thought this was the valve stem seals but i also noticed it lets a bit out if you rev it to about 5k but not a lot what i want to no is would this still be valve stem seals or am i looking at piston rings the car still runs well and pulls well any help would be great

sounds like stem seals buddy as i had same problem with mine.

i thought it may of been piston rings but pulled to well to be the rings.

cars can still 'pull well' with worn rings.

Id lean to wards valve stem seals mate, but dont dismiss it could be a bit of both, or possibly a breather problem

the main time i notice it is when it first starts then it clears after that only noticed today that i lets a very small amount out at high rpm also dont no if this helps but the car has done 93,000

if its stem seals when the car is cooling down oil leaks into the cylinders and burns off on cold start. just wack a compression tester in it then add a teaspood full of oil after u tested each cylinder if compression goes up its probly rings. but high compression isnt bad its better for your car long as it not stupidly high
