Just a random topic..was watching helicoptor heroes last night and the presenter said most people only have to call 999 once or twice in their life... i'm 20 and have called 999 a few times already
How many times have you had to call 999 and why?
Police - Found someone who had been assaulted pretty badly
Police - Cought burglers breaking into my house
Fire - Come across an office on fire on bonfire night
Police - Needed back up at work
Police - Needed back up at work
Ambulance - Guy knocked out at the club
Most of the above were just this year alone..

never had to phone 999. Once went to the cop shop late at night because there were some young kids riding a motorbike on a busy A road. Someone was bound to get hurt.

I've called 999 3 times...
Police - Some lad was getting jumped by about 6 or 7 lads near my house.
Ambulance - An old man had been knocked out when he had fallen over whilst drunk. I was driving past and just spotted his silvery hair on the pavement.
Police - Loads of little pricks round my house trying to start a fight with my family. I went out with a bat but was outnumbered

You actually rang 999 because of a broken window and someone nicking something from a car? You tool...
I was thinking about this earlier today actually, I've never had to do it.

Well yes, because its theft...
Also the stuff stolen was quite valuable and without a crime number insurance companies dont want to know. And I had to chase the guys that did it as we caught them in the middle of it. The rear window smashed because people broke into.

Tbh i agree, id feel like i was wasting their time. Personally i would wait until the morning and then go down my local station and report it. 999, IMO, is for emergencies, Like life threatening injuries or situations.

If you were holding the guys then I can understand 999. Otherwise you should use the non emergency number or just go to the police station to report it :S

i never ring the police mainly because round here we dont have a full time police service they do there shift then go home and the police station just has 1 copper in for the overnighters in the cells..police in this town are shite..we dont have a real police service, we dont even have a proper hospital anymore...gainsborough really is the rio of england!

Was not in local area, was at a football game, didnt know where the local station was or what the local number was. Hence ringing 999. Wasnt holding them but I was chasing them.
If I knew the numbers I would always call the local unless in an emergency.

Phoned police probably in the hundreds of times as I work security in Tesco. Usually just for kids drinking in the car park or obviously theft.
Phoned police once before cause a guy had stopped in the middle of the road and was lying on the floor, asked him what was up and he said this girl he picked up (lol) had stole his money and his keys lol. He looked pretty drunk so I managed to find his keys then pretend I was still looking for them. Rung the police, they got there within minutes and arrested him for drink driving and they found they girl at the end of the road and he was also arrested for using a prostitute, muhahaha.
Ambulance once or twice.

I had to phone the police and ambulance when I saw a crash :( wasn't nice, and I could have been involved in it if my boyfriend at the time hadn't of had second thoughts about overtaking the car in front, so we were lucky.....this car came flying off the motorway around the roundabout and smacked straight into the side of the car infront of us......the girl in the back of the speeding car wasn't good, her head was hanging out the window :( :(
Two or three other times had to phone the police for personal reasons.....
Oh actaully I have lied on the pole lol I have phoned them more times that I thought hahaha.....some cock drunken driven decided to come and have a party in the car park where I live and drove into my then boyfriends car....knobhead....:wall:
Then when someone hit me in Asda carpark oh and I was witness to this dickhead lorry driver hitting some poor womens car.....
think that is all lol :) oh the last couple were on the non emergency number actually

2.old bloke ran into back of my mums car when it was parked ( he only had the courtesy car 2 minutes) we couldnt move the car because the wheel was nearly on its side and bloking main road still took them over a hour to get there even though they at bottom of the street

I dialled 999 when me and my mates got overtaken by a Volvo S60R they did roughly 110mph over a roundabout then crashed head on into a tree and when we got there he was running away!
To the sound of "fucking hell"
Coppers come and kind of gave us the look that we maybe should have tried to get him.
My first thought he was dead.
If you plan on having a car crash, have one in a Volvo S60.

0 times for 999
once had to call non emergency as 2 pikeys/scum decided to rob the disk cutter out of our work van i came round from the backgarden with one lad at the back door of the van and one inside it i then ran over shouting (cant remeber what now) and the lad jumped out the back with the disk cutter and legged it then the other lad obviously there to make sure the lad got away had a hammer on him which i didnt realise untill i was practically in his face not a good situation i was still stupidly rearing up at him and obviously shouting which my dad could hear and came running round at that point i backed off and that lad legged it. my dad didnt know what the fuck was going on and thought the hammer was taken :S not the cutter. as soon as the lad turned around meaning i could actually do something witout the risk of having a hammer over the head first thing i did was grab the crow bar out the van and went looking untill my dad calmed me down. at which point we rang the police.
gave a description blah blah and the lad was well known by the police ended up a few months later getting a phone call saying do we want to go and identify and that point i just though fuck it no 3 months down the line is to late and was never goign to get the saw back.
