Just looking about for a decent tool set for general maintenance of my car. Had a look on halfords but not sure if it will be cheap shite so any ideas please

Why wrong section? I have used plenty Halfrauds tools and they do last, but obviously not as good as say, Snap On

Halfords professional range are very good imo.
I simply couldn't justify the cost of snap on etc for general maintenance.

Halfords is ok for the hobby diy stuff pal, I've got halfords stuff at home and Snapon/mac tools at work.
But tbh you get to know the quality of tools. Snapon can be piss poor at some stuff.
Like sidecuts, snapons are toss and I swear by knipex!
Anything like; halfords, silverline, sealey are good for diy

all halfords spanners have lifetime garantee so cant be that bad! personally i use tengtools for all my tools, weng for screwdrivers and knipex etc. But dont think u can go wrong with halfords, draper or stanley

Steer clear of argos... halfords is alright for general work.
Snap-on is expensive for home use we have it at work. But at home i use blue print

As the others have said. Snap on are the mutts nuts for most tools. But they are pricey.
Halfords pro range is what I have, life time warranty apart from the ratchets mechanism.
Reasonably priced and mine have worked well for 3 years. Keep the receipt.

Mac tools are probably the closest thing to snap on... but for your needs would get halfords pro range..

Halfords pro gear had some cracking offers on recently. Not sure if they still are though. Its all good gear and upto the job :)

Agreed halfords pro range aren't bad tools. However i'm building up my set with britool tools. Really nice tools, price wise in between halfords and snap on but quality is much nearer snap on.

reechard snap on dont cover ratchets mechanism either, thier life time garantee is similar to halfords, also doesnt cover wear and tear thier power tools only have a year garantee

Would love some Snap on tools with a cabinet but they are way to dear for my needs at the moment maybe if i do a mechanics course i could justify having them lol. Going to get this (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_17 3083_langId_-1_categoryId_165572) then.
