View Full Version : Central locking going mad, possibly drained battery??

Right then, just went to my car there and put key in ignition and went to start it up as normal...turned the key fully and all dash lights and clock went off - thought it must just be a flat battery as when i removed the key from the ignition the clock came back on at 00:00.

then i noticed a clicking noise, which turns out to be the central locking trying to move the door pins up and down continuously, now im thinking this is what has drained the battery??

this clicking of the doorpins occurs when the key is out the ignition, or in the ignition partly turned. it stops when the key is turned to the fuel pump primed position.

Anyone shed any light on this situation? either what is causing it, or at least how to stop the central locking acting up so that the battery can recharge and i can actually start the car?

thanks in advance

mine was doing this not long ago. Never fixed it, just fixed itself. I had a dodgy door pin that was stuck i think. Car thought it was locked when it wasnt so it tries to un-jam it. Either that or our car's are generally spaztastic.

to temporarily stop it take the fuse out but the central locking/interior lights and clock wont work either as it is the same fuse at least it is on mine anyway

ha i have it on good authority that our saxos are spaztastic dude! could well be a good shout as it does seem to be trying to fix something i.e unlock/lock itself when it doesnt need to. And sax0gal thanks very much thats exactly what ive just done and the noise has stopped, so hopefully i'll be able to get it started soon and live life without my central locking etc for a bit, as im far too broke to fix it at the minute!

not sure about citroen but i know when you open and close a door 10 times on a ford if the lock/door switch is ok the indiactors flash just a thought. Not sure if i could live with out my central locking though as im too lazy haha
