just wondered what you think...

Am I insured with a cast onmy arm? I broke it 5-6 weeks ago and I can't take this shit any longer. I need to drive my car.

I've had full use of the bloody thing for 3 weeks now but it's still been inside a cast. I'm driving tomorrow anyway but would be nice if I was insured to do so.

What ya think?

saw a spinally injured patient ride a motorbike smileys/happy.gif

he is L1 which is lower back so no movement or control of legs, or sensation.

his motorbike was like a trailor, he wheeled himself in and rode off! first thing i ever seen like it.

no chance you will be insured, i would not bother driving if i was you, it is not worth it and if you get pulled they will know straight away that you shouldnt be driving!

I think you need to ring your insurance company!
My mate broke her wrist and they said she could still drive!
Best ringing up tho mate!

I broke my left wrist when I was 18... I called the insurance company and they didn't seem too bothered that I had my arm in plaster... and it was the gear changing arm too. Good job too as I had my arm in plaster for 6 months and then had a splint on it for a further 3 months smileys/smiley3.gif.... I would have gone mad if I could have driven for 9 months.

Let your insurance company know definately! If your not insured you
could face a hefty bill for lots of things! Repair of the road, barriers, the
damage to yourself, passenger, pedestrians suing you etc etc oh and
maybe the car you crash into and the people you injur wanting
compensation!

How bad was the fracture? What did you break? Scaphoid?

I fractured my radius (bigger bone in my arm) on the last day of a snowboarding holiday,
in fact it was the last run and I said to myself that I would just go for it, I have nothing to lose. How wrong was I? lol

6 weeks later and I'm wishing I hadn't dne that smileys/smiley19.gif

Ah scaphoid fractures are the most common wrist fractures in people in
our age group, caused by falls etc.

The snowboarding bit being added puts my medical mind straight
to the radius. Was the fracture displaced? In other words did they have
to reposition it and put a cast on that applies pressure to make sure it
repairs itself straight?

Orthopeadics is the business! Thats what i want to be when it grow up!

Only another 4 years and i will be able to specialise in it!!! LMBO! © sax-p

yeh the bone was sticking out the side of the arm. Wasn't a compound fracture but you could see the bulge where the bone was.

The funny thing was, I had no pain from it after I did it, whilst they were setting it and none since apart from when they changed the casts over.

it can do in some people chris. Espescially if the cast comes off too early.
Some people are
different.

Also if treated incorrectly, it can lead to early arthiritis in that wrist.

of the cast coming offsmileys/smiley2.gif
