what you get sacked for?
Powellyboi
28th September 2010, 18:11
If you got sacked surely you only have yourself to blame?? Do you mean you got made redundant?
Paul
28th September 2010, 18:14
You can't really say he's only got himself to blame for getting sacked when we don't know the full story.
Sorry to hear about the job mate, i'm sure you'll manage. Your parents will be able to help you out until you get back onto your feet no doubt. Most important thing now is to keep your chin up and stay pro-active. Good luck with the job hunting.

What if he doesn't have parents and if he does, what if they are skint themselves... You can't just expect thing to be like that

Well, your qualified, that's the main thing, was it an apprenticeship? If it was they often do that. Stupid to me.. I thought it was the other way around and you were tied into working for them after you qualified after they've been too all the trouble off teaching you, they would want something back, I would off though, unless there must be some sort off tax break if your company has apprentices, otherwise, what incentive is there? Must be some perks for the company that employs em?

Keep your head up pal, like everyone says least you got your qualifications. Kinda silli that your company pays to put you through all that training then let you go.
Payment protection will be your friend in future if you take out a loan or any kind of finance

This seems to happen alot! They use you in apprenticeship as they get grants and cheap labour, when your qualified they just chuck you out as they would have to pay you more :(
This whole recession really made me look at life different as a mate lost his job with 5k debt. He is in the same trade as me so I thought twice!
I had a new car in finance which I sold and made £200 out of and only borrowed 1000 to help me back onto the car Market!
I had £6000 on finance, £1500 from when I needed some desperate cash and a credit card bill.
Now I have a car that is paid for, insurance that is paid for, a credit card with a balance of £7 and £1000 left to pay on a loan which will be paid off before summer.
With the whiplash claim coming next year I will have a few grand but instead of going stupid like friends have said I'm sticking it away for my future!
I hope you work everything out pal and what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!

Best thing to do is to go round EVERY electrician company there is, pop in ask to see the manager/owner (smaller companys will take you on with cash in hand if you keep it quiet)
Try marine services aswell, i used to work in marine engineering after i was done with electronic and security, pay is much better than a sparky even at apprentice wages (fully qualified marine tech's get over £50k+ a year) and sometimes need allot of help to do their work as you cant do everything with 1 person
p.s doing this i got a job within 2 days of being redundant.

OP... thought about going self employed?
theres a guy down the road from me, went self employed, hes now driving an Audi S4
a chap who i went to school with is a self employed joiner, he drives a focus ST
I know the car they drive says nothing, but hes my age (19) and can afford to drive an ST, so cant be all bad
