I payed in full on y insurance this year. But gained 3 points today. When I ring the insurance, should I expect them to charge me more?

Declare them, you may have to pay a small increase and an admin charge (which is daylight robbery if you ask me). If you don't, any claim could be refused and may make your insurance void.

Have a read here for more info (http://www.nopenaltypoints.co.uk/InformingYourInsuranceOfYourConvictions.html)

You don't need to tell them till you renew.

Just a quick cut n paste from Direct Lines T&C's

You must tell us immediately if any of the following details change:
• the address where you normally keep your car;
• if you, or anyone covered by this policy change jobs, including
part time.
(Any change during the period of insurance may result in
an additional or return premium and will be subject to an
administration fee, see general condition 4 for further details.)
You must tell us about the following changes before the next
renewal date (or at the time you are making any of the changes
already mentioned):
• Accidents, thefts or losses (whether covered by insurance
or not and regardless of blame) where these have not been
previously reported to us;
• Motoring convictions (including fixed penalty offences) or
pending prosecutions, outstanding police enquiries, criminal
convictions or charges for a criminal offence;
• Any physical or mental impairment that must be notified to the
Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or the Driver and
Vehicle Agency Northern Ireland (DVANI).

So its up to you, risk it and possibly run the chance of making your insurance void or declare and pay a small (from the bits I've read on other forums) increase.

Fergie. I work for direct line and we only need to know these at renewal as it will have no affect on this years policy.

But if I've payed my policy in full when I took the policy out, then surely they can't demand money from me as we've agreed a price and I've payed it

You know who the best people to speak to are? Your insurance company.

Ring them and ask, either they say you need to tell straight away and you tell them there and then, or they say you dont need to inform them till renewal and you wait till then...

Or have a read through your paperwork.

maybe, maybe not. Send me your insurance contract, I'll read it and i'll keep you informed. Or you can call them if you want a quicker answer:y:

So if you mod your car half way through your policy, its ok not to tell them untill renewal?

You're changing the detials of your policy so i would ring up and ask them. They might just add them to the policy an not change your price, although they will rape you when renewal comes in ;)

I spoke to them, and they said that it wont effect this years policy at all. And when I spoke bout next years, they said it won't effect it because its a low risk points (?).

You did the right thing, although some companies may have a policy whereby you don't need to inform them until renewall, they always look for reasons not to pay out in event of a claim so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Ive got an SP30 for speeding (2006) but they ask for 5 years history when you take out a policy, the first 2 years it added like 5% onto my premium but has made no difference for the last 2 years.

To be honest, tell your insurance company everything.
It may cost you more in the short term but if you have to claim and they refuse to pay out due to something you 'forgot' to tell them.....guess who is going to have to foot the bills!!!...YOU!
