tbh ive never found it to make a difference, in fact my mate has all 4 tires different. if you were needing good grip ect however for fast road or track use then I'm in no doubt same tires will perform better. i would say though that having different tires on each wheel is not the same as having cheap tires, cheap tires will kill you haha

all the same is best for equal handling/grip/traction performance

Depends what tyres your getting, if its a set of cheapo budgets, then what difference will it make...none.
If its something like pirelli, then ofcourse all the same!

But then you need to think if i get certain tyres, i need to have x tread pattern on the front and x pattern on the rear!
I.e directional and symetrical tyres! Only really goodyear and pirelli that do this though.

But again, depends what tys your getting?

i have 2 federals on the front so they would be the ones i want. Is federal any good for a tyre ?

For the price your paying?...there could potentially be better.
Have a look on camskill or black circle.

ok ive bin 2 the garage and relised i have another tyre in there which is a nexen tyre with full tread on. Should i just get another nexen tyre and have them 2 of the back and the 2 federal on the front. There all mid range tyres so wil this be ok and the right thing to do ? thanks

just any tyres you want the tyres u have named federal and nexen are budget tyres anyway so you wont notice a difference unless you drive it on tracks. if you want good performance tyres go for toyo proxes or mitch pilots.

Depends what Federal it is. Go on Tyrereviews.co.uk for all the reviews you will ever need. Iv found as long as you have the same tyres, tread etc on each axle (ie Pirellis on the front and Toyo on the rear) Then the car is fine.

Just never use budgets. NEVER! Its a matter of life or death im serious.

What size tyres you running? Im after 185 60 14s for my VTR alloys on my Xsara coupe but there aint that many good makes for them sizes. Like T1Rs, Eagle F1s etc..

There the super 565 federal or smethin like that so there mid range tyres. I'm running 185 55 14s mate think thats standard for the vtr alloys. I have no clue what tyres to get ill proberly get mid range ones as buget ones seem to be quite shit tbh.

On the back I use one bridgestone winter tyre and a cheap all year tyre. The fronts is a cheap summer tyre and a cheeap all year tyre.

The car will be fine in all weather conditions provided you drive very sensibly. :P
