Has any had an experience developing applications for Android?
I'm just in the progress of setting up the SDK and eclipse. I have done some very limited java projects before during my degree (about 3-4 years ago), but since then have only really coded in VB & Visual Fox Pro.
Anyone got any pointers? Think I will start with a basic application that everyone does which simply says "Hello World"
I have seen an app where you basically hit a mole and it moves round the screen. I would love to create an app witha slight variation where you can take a picture using the phone and use that... was thinking I could call it "Bash-a-Bitch" :A:

Haha, this interests me as my project this year at university is to develop a androd application which "sells" products, and is connected to a database.
Is it easy to set up eclipse for android? havent started yet.

Well iv spent the last two hours just getting to grips with it. I have now got a hello world app running on an emulator. Its easy enough to set up from what I can see. Your project sounds interesting, im hoping to play about with it over the weekend and see if I can throw something together. Going to try and do something quite straight forward like a Parcel Tracking app or something for the company I work for. Would like to develop a game but I don't know if I've got the patience lol

Ahh cool, i am just trying to sort out the android SDK and ADT at the moment.
Parcel tracking app sounds cool, my lecturer showed us an app that alerts you of house prices when you are near the houses. Not sure who this would be useful to, maybe house hunters?
Just found out my group members this year, bunch of retards lol, luckily the app development is individual work, its just the database thats group work and who could mess that up eh!

Cool I had a group database assignment but the guys I were with were actually ok. All I can say is as long as you put the effort in then you should do well. Having said that I wish we had a project like that. My assignment was to build an Oracle Database for a recruitment company with a .net front end. I managed to integrate it with word and outlook which is probably why I got fairly good marks for it, but you need to do something quite "out of the Box" to get a decent grade nowadays
