Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out a ball park figure of how much my car is worth, as it stands at the moment. The problem for me is though, I can't look in the blue book or trader books, cause they're complicated and I've got the mileage of my car to take into consideration.

It's nothing special. Saxo Desire 1.1 5dr 03 with 20,000 miles on the clock.

I've seen other Desires' from this year with 2,500, but I'm guessing they ain't got my mileage.

Any advice,

Kat

dont think you will get more than 2.5k mate, it is a saxo at the end of the day, very good miles though!

p.s i was in wotton today

yeah prices for saxo's peak about 2.5k more for vt models, should sell well at 2.5k but end of the day its not the most sought after model :(

what car says 2k, which tbh is still a bit pricey, i'd say you will get £1700 max, it only a 1.1 at the end of the day

The engine size is irrelevant as he wont sell it on here as everyone on here thinks their VTR will do 60 in 2nd and the VTS is the best car in the world.

Advertise it on auto trader and pistonheads and try to appeal to first time drivers or middle aged people who want a daily run about.

Only a handful of people are gonna care about the mileage... Maybe on old cars, or expensive cars, but someone aint gonna pay a premium for a low mileage desire... well, I wouldn't have thought so anyway...

Well, if I ever decided to sell it, which wouldn't be for another couple of years, it gives me an idea. (Depending on money). I could always say £3000 and then I've got that bracket to come down to, as I know it's defo worth say £2300 to £2500.

-Jason-

In 2 years it wont be worth anywhere near that.

Maybe £1500

Oh yeah, defo. Just in the mean time, like if someone goes, 'Hey, I want your car, how much?'. LOL, yeah, like that would happen.

LOL.

£3000 for a Saxo Desire?! It's a Saxo at the end of the day..for that amount of money there are FAR better cars that have more kit and are newer. Even £2500 is pushing it. Mileage is not much for the unpopular models tbh.

Well, when i wasnt driving my car for a while due to low funds and had no tax or MOT on it, some bird up the road from me offerd me £300 for my 1.4 saxo that is in good nick with 82k on the clock. She was either retarded or thought i was!

No standard 1.1 is worth anywhere near £2k imo

VTS'/GTIs are the only models i would say can be sold at around that price tbh

Tax is what £68 for 6 months and MOT is £35 ... and plus I know there was nothing wrong with my car so not like it needed to be fixed so i thought £300 was takin the piss!

I think you would have to advertise at a MAX of £2,200 and be prepared to be knocked down.. 5 door saxos arent the most appealing or quickest selling cars..

A garage could sell it for 2.8, you could probably get £2k, maybe 2.2 if you advertise in the right places and depending on your area, down here cars are quite a bit more expensive than even if you go 50 miles away.

Yes but they dont know there is nothing wrong do they the car could be rotten so the offer was based on that.

I think it just depends on the person. I mean, I know of one seller on ebay who was crazy. He/she was selling a Mk1 saxo, nothing special, just normal, and they wanted something like £2500 for it and it had high mileage, bodywork was bashed and such, and the interior was worn. And that was at the beginning of the year I saw that.

You could put your car up for sale at £5k doesnt mean it will sell.

MellKat86
3rd October 2010, 19:01
Very true. It just gives me an idea that all, for what I could get for it and then I can work out how much to take off as it ages.

I recently sold an X reg(2001) Corsa C with 23,000 mile's FSH 12 month's MOT 4 month's tax. for £2100
AND a Y reg 106 with 36,000 mile's 12 month's MOT 6 month's tax.. That one sold for £1800..
Both in local papers and local selling site's.
BUT atm the used car market is dead... But people are buying nice clean low milage car's..

chris1357

Baring in mind both of those car's were povety spec car's minus proberly e/w..
I would put your's up at £2400 and let it go for £2000-£2100

I did use to know someone who had a car lot and would let me put cars on it for £50. Too bad they went bust...!

for some reason i find low mileage later saxos and 106's do sell for £2k+

fuck knows what moron would pay so much but i guess alot of novices look purely for mileage these days

Sure it's a low offer, but what did they have to lose? You saying no? Big deal :|

End of the day, if you don't ask, you don't get, so why not be cheeky about it? Worst you get is no, and you're no better or worse off than you started, and if they you get a yes, you get a nice cheap car. Win win.
