Right I bought my 1.1 beast about 3mths ago but ever since sitting in my saxo i knew i needed a little more power, now i wont be able to afford the insurance on a vtr so there's no point in getting one but i can just about stretch to a westcoast cost on insurance. I bought my car for £2500 with a trade in of my punto ( £500 ) and since i've been trying to sell it haven't had any decent offers. The garage i bought it from said they would only give me £1600 cash on it.

Now there's a westcoast for sale for £1700 down here do i take the money and get the matey to knock his price down or do i wait as my girlfriends mate said she will buy it for £2000 when her loan comes through and still knock the guy down on his price that way I can get the sideskirts and go back to standard on the bumpers?? The problem here is I dont know quite how long it will take this girl to get the money together

Also i wouldnt get the car if its the one im thinking. I think any car with a kit or an attemp to kit will of been ragged about and maybe need some work for it.

Think people always used to say to me was dont rush in to everything. Wait i never listend and just did what i fort was best. Now i took there advance and realised how stupid i was.

Wait until you find a nice standard one or one from someone you can trust (sax-p)

if i took my mate or my uncle with me surely they would be able to tell if it had been ragged or not though??

exterior wear and tear yeah they could but there's nothing to stop you looking too.

Not sure about internals but you'd need to drive it and listen for anything peculiar sounding... like on brakes, engine through the rev range, steering, electrics etc.

Check for full service history and get a RAC/Hpi check if you want it, but as leckie says dont rush into it - or you'll be going slower than you are in the 1.1 i.e. stuck by the side of a road just after buying it.

this sounds stupid now but is a hpi check to do with accidents?? or is it to do with engine work carried out on the car??

HPI checks the car for any payment owed on the car also would state full info on how many owners and if its been in a crash or not.

so if i bought the car and it hadn't been paid for by the current owner the finance company have every right to get the car back? is that what you mean leckie?

scrap the last post just done a search!!

It says the cars only had two owners and the last change was feb 2006?? Now the bloke says his girlfriends preggers but it seems a little odd to me that he's only had the car for 3mths and now wants to sell up. Does it seem strange to anyone else??
