Help please

hi,
ive just changed a clutch in my saxo nad put it all back together and it turns over perfectly but doesnt fire?
also the engine management light has just came on and ive been thru all the wires etc i took off and nothing
also between the 2 drive shafts is a chip sensor on a white clip that clicks in, this is emersed in oil and i took it out, got all the oil out and it just fills back up again, is this supposed to sit in oil?
could i have missed anything?
is this common?
i have a diagnostics kit and will be plugging it in tommorow but input is always welcome as im new to saxos and this must be something stupidly simple? as i was runnning spot on b4 i took the gearbox out?!

is the "chip sensor" you mean on the gearbox? and are you sure you havent smashed or knocked the the crank/flywheel sensor? common on doing clutch/gerbox changes, it will stop your car starting, and will most probs also bring em light on,

also is the little orange flashing key light on when you turn it over

Could be a problem with the crank sensor as this is the problem caused when they stop working. Just see what your diagnostics says probably the best.
