they must have upgraded you m8. its takes about 14 days for your intenet connection to settle down when you have that size connection so your uploads and downloads will all over the place for 2 weeks or so. i can only get 1.5 meg where i live. moving house next year i think. bring on 100 meg broadband baby. its coming soon.

mine says 7.7mbs but its really about 4.5 do a speed test on it HERE (www.speakeasy.net/speedtest)

Your ISP has upgraded you automatically, and you won't have to pay extra. The minimum speed for all UK broadband will soon be 2Mbs as oppose to 512Kbs, so people on 512 will be upgraded to 2, people on 1Mbs will be upgraded to 4Mbs, and people on 2Mbs will be up to 8. (well that may not happen with all ISP's but clearly has with yours!) lucky bugger

Whats that website behind that box in the picture there hmmm? Have you been looking at www.xxxpornserver.com again Mike? You can download all the pictures and movies 3x as fast now smileys/drool.gif

Wireless doesn't do 100Mbs. (unless you use a gay turbo router and they still won't do 100mbps)

Turbo wireless will go faster (reported 108Mbps)but more likely will be around 70. For internet speed checking go here (http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/)

USRobotics "Turbo" is a reported 125Mbps, although you'll never see that in practice.

Just because your tinternet company says you get 2mbps, doesn't mean to say you will constantly get 2mbps, that is a theoretical maximum..just like car audio companies stating their amp is 1000w max, whereas really its 300wrms

I was just generalising about all aspects of AOL.

AOL are 100% gay. so are tiscali.
madasafish seem ok for £14.99 a month unlimited with static Ip address. I'm going to get cable (before you slate NTL they are 1000x better than AOL) and then get Vonage

Hell no dawg.
Except im back in sunny NA at the moment which means I'm using the parents computers and all i ever do is reinstall this and that after the father has updated AOL as it invariably naffs up everything else in the system. My comp or my sisters don't have it.

I'm with tiscali in birmingham so far no probs but i havent had to call their wanky call centre yet.

NTL are fudge packers... well and truely screwed me up a few months ago, but managed after nearly having a court case to sort it out.

Tiscali are one of the slowest ISPs, only behind the likes of bulldog. As for reliability I'm sure they are ok.
Alot of people have reported NTL call centre problems. They are brilliant until it goes wrong, thats where NTL fall down. The connection itself is lightning (+ cable technology is superior to ADSL)

yeah trust, the connection was on the nippy side with cable.

contention ratio is a bigger issue on ADSL coz you are essentially sharing a connection with 50 other users down the telephone line.
With cable you are still sharing the connection but the lines go directly to switches
