While i think of it does anyone know whether moving to 14 inch rims with a lowered height of 40mm will that make the wheels more likely to rub or less likely?

Im down 40mm mate with 50 profile tyres.

On the road i have to be careful on the 'dual's sppedbumps you know the one's where the middle of the car has to pass over them? I never go up kerbs anyway so not sure if that would be a problem or not but generally on the road it is fine.

On track its fine too really. At brands paddock hill bend when i hit the bottom of the hill i think there was a slight rub noise but i think that was from the tyres. At the Nurburgring it hit the road at Hocheichen and both the karussels so went round them after that.

I'd say the hassle you get from it is more than worth it.

thanks for that. im debating fitting one at the moment, i dont have a top or bottom brace at present. i have trouble with my rear box rubbing the dual speed bumps at eh moment so im not sure what it would be like. i am running the basic 45 profiles, lowered 40mm front and 45mm rear.

did you notice a big difference in the handling? i may start with a top unit and see how i get on.

6x14 & 185-55 048R's should see an end of your rubbing issues, either that or fit 195-45's (Avon acb10/cr500) to your current rims.
The 195-50-15 fed 595 RSR seems to be more like a 45 profile looking at the tyre OD size.

What size t bars do you run?

it even made the mrs lol. it could be what the bikers call it as some of the quick ones take off. i can get rear wheels to lift but not the fronts :(

Cool, that's strange that is, should be nice and neutral by then, what springs are you running now compared to before then? And suspension you running? Mine was wheel spinning as I came over the mountain but nothing major

£400 on ebay when my mr2 had sold. They are good handling cars and I couldnt find a vts that I wanted.

The car will all be going green, paint supplier has been unable to get different bits so I can finish the colour atm.

Those pics are taken with knackered top mounts too, and a jammed throttle at the end lol.

So far ive spent £800 including the car, gotten me a fair amount of bits for it.

Suspension is next on the list I think.

Also found out ive been driving on snapped front springs since I got the car.
Not bad considering I passed a sierra cossie on track :P

Thats how it got home, and i almost hit 3 cars because i was struggling to slow it. Brakes were glowing red and clutch didnt like it.

ross, how many normally go over, im new to it and just starting to prep my car ready for a harsh beating of track days.. its so costly... but i want to hit the ring but it only me and mate ideally want to go with a bunch of experienced people, it scares us

I've only been once mate so FAR from experienced! I went with JP as he's been a lot of times. This time I'll be going on my own (or with whoever wants to come!). It's nothing to be "scared" of, it's intimidating of course (mostly the speed at which you get overtaken and how stuff comes up behind you etc). Just take it steady and you'll be fine!

It's nice to go as a group mind you in case you need any assistance or break down etc, but also to share the crack!

ive also got b8s, so we are equal.. well my brother and eight of his friend have just all purchased clio 172's to build for track cars so i will be hitting tracks up with them.. just need to get the saxo more powerful, what turbo do you use ;)

His vts is completely standard and he might want the back lowering soon if your ok to do it if he decides to?

Last person to say i was young and have no fear is one of my good mates Ash. He's written off a C2 GT and on the way to the ring he binned his car on the 2nd roundabout trying to keep up with me 5mins into the journey haha

Had Bilstein Group Ns all round and some 155lb 250mm Faulkner springs on then. Back was lowered -35mm from standard.

I've since swapped the springs for some 180lb 240mm Faulkners. Was expecting the front to be a similar height, but it's a tad lower than before. :panic:

Certainly am mate, although it hardly gets used now i'm back at uni. I said I never would, but I'm planning on keeping it as a track car. Some boost may be inbound too. ;)

trackday at wittering,
unfortunately was cut short due to an alternator problem, which meant that battery died, and cut out on track, due to alternator going battery couldnt hold power so was end of the day. was brilliant while was out there. car handled quite well, alot of room for improvement with the car and my driving.

Cheers mate, yea tried my best to, was a shame the day was cut short, was going well. Have
- Pugsport GrpN Tarmac Dampers +
- 325lb 7" Main Spring +
- 40lb 4" Faulkner Helpers +
- Faulkner Spring Coupler +
- RallyDesign Coilover Convertion Kit +
- compbrake Solid Top Mounts with 1 or 2 degree neg Camber
And then need to find some new rear dampers too

Andy your car looked and sounded great out there, heard few people talking about how quick you were, must have been your dad driving ;)
