Just realised I never made a thread for this.

The before photos! God knows how long it had gone without a wash.

The car had some very bad bug marks on the front. They were embedded into the paint so I liberally applied Autosmart Tardis and laughed the the thought of my paint being stripped off.

The car was then clayed using Megs Quick Clay and loud music. The clay worked pretty well although some areas would have benefited from a more aggressive clay.

The next day my mate came round with his PC and we get started with the polishing.

All taped up

The next day I decided it would be a great idea to put on way too much Zymol Carbon!

http://i861.photobucket.com/albums/ab177/Viperzs/Fiesta%20Detail/IMG_0283.jpg

I then followed up with two coats of Dodo Juice Purple Haze. I should have done it the other way round though...

Why have you taped up a random square, is that your test patch or....?

Viper
12th October 2010, 11:13
Yeah that was the test patch.

Tom_Crx
12th October 2010, 11:15
Yeah that was the test patch.
Sorry to be a n00ber but, if its a test patch shouldn't you do it somewhere inconspicuous just incase it did go wrong?

Viper
12th October 2010, 11:18
I suppose it would help, but I was pretty confident we wouldnt do any damage as we weren't using a rotary and we started off with the least abrasive pad and polish and worked up :y:

Ah ok buddy, im surprised you didn't have to rewash it after putting all that zymol on, but last picture looks tidy

Viper
12th October 2010, 11:40
LOL!. The zymol did take a bit of effort to get off. I was a bit generous with it.

I'm glad you like the top. LOL.

Never let it outside again! haha!

I didn't want to! I didn't drive it for about a week, I used my brother's car. lol

Craig, I'm a busy guy, I'll have to see if I can find the time to fit you in!

Looks good, only thing I would say is to tell your mate to invest in some spot pads !

Lol at how much zymol you used :P

Viper
12th October 2010, 13:10
Yeah spot pads were one thing we could have done with. We weren't too bothered about it though as I am going to get my own DA and I will get spot pads with that and have another go on the car as we didn't take out all of the marks.

I didn't intend to use that much Zymol. It took a bit of effort to get off

Did you not crash this Tom?

Colour in the paint looks excellent!

Viper
12th October 2010, 14:18
I don't crash Lee ;) If you're referring to the thread I made months ago about hitting the wall it wasn't my car. Someone had hit our wall :y:

The flake in the paint is unbelievable!

Got enough wax on? haha

Shame we didn't have a proper way of checking the swirls, rather than using the flash on your phone!

Viper
12th October 2010, 21:17
Yeah it would have helped a lot!

I suppose we could have ripped one of the garage lights down...

I'm not sure if there's enough wax. There was still plenty left in the pot.

Can't believe you called me a pikey! Nice wife beater vest gayboy! :P

But seriously, nice job, how did you apply the carbon? by fingertips or appy pad?

Viper
16th October 2010, 16:24
I put the carbon on by hand and I won't be doing it again. lol

I put the Purple Haze on with a microfibre :y:

Oh, and you are a pikey. Although not that bad, the PS3 hasn't died yet :P

lyndon
16th October 2010, 16:26
Fair enough, Yeah when doing it by hand only a tiny bit is needed as your hands warm it up and spread it so well! Luckily when I did the same it was only cheap P21s

Thanks. I'll have to get back to you regarding durability though!

It won't be a fair test though because there is purple haze on top of the carbon.
