reverse, reverse

i have posted in the engine talk but no responce and i need to know asap!

Just went to the shop, and now my car will not go into reverse?? it will go in all the other gears ok but when i try to put it in reverse it as if something is blocking it?? any ideas??

it is a new gear box and clutch so surley this should be ok and not be happening !?!

anyone else had this problem ???

Isnt there a 'gate' on first and reverse to prevent you accidently boshing it into those gears at say 50mph or something?

Posted in the engine section for you, may just be a case of releasing the clutch and then re-applying it as it happens to mine a lot. Takes a good 4 or 5 attempts sometimes.

just use ure clutch as a pump mate will work eventually i have to do mine a few times

nope that does not work, sometimes i have to do that but ths time it is not working, if i bring the clutch back when it is close to reverse i can hear bearings grinding ? smileys/smiley5.gif

try pushing your stick down a bit towards the floor, works for me.

check the linkages on the gear box?? may be them but if it was you wouldnt find any gear smileys/smiley5.gif just a suggestion

umm I'm no expert but could it be the syncromesh? Isn't that the jobbie that stops you going into reverse when going forward? Mine was dodgy on my 306, and getting into reverse was a biatch.
