How do you do it... all via iTunes?

Lastnight, I connected the phone to the computer, opened up iTunes, right clicked on the phone name on the left and then selected "Backup". If I then want to restore this backup, I just re-connect the phone, right click on the phone name on the left and then select "Restore from backup".

What does this backup... backup? All downloaded applications, music AND contacts?

This phone in question is on the Vodafone network and Vodafone have suggested their www.vodafone360.com website where you can download an application called "360 People" and you can then download phone contacts that way. That can't be the only way?

Also, are the contacts ALL saved on the phone as opposed to the SIM card? So if the SIM card was put into another iPhone, would the SIM contacts not be carried across?

The backup should include all apps, music, contacts, texts etc.

Get mobile me and it will sync/backup wirelessly.

Back-up doesnt include music!

It does Back-up Contacts, Texts, Settings etc

Remember to right click and transfer purchases before you back up.
