I have recently had my car cammed (catcam 708) and mapped (by wayne)...

The other day i went to the petrol station and left my fog lights on accidently while i was paying, went to start my car afterwards and the battery was flat. I thought prior to this incident that i had a faulty alternator as the battery light was flickering so it didnt surprise me that the battery flatted quickly. I got my car jumped by a lad in the petrol station (highly illegal i know but no choice!), and the car, from then onwards, has been cutting out every time i let the revs drop to idle...

I thought the engine was independant of the battery once it is running, the battery is only needed to start the engine?! Correct me if i am wrong please.

Therefore I am baffled as to why, after the petrol station incident, my car will no longer idle??!!

The only thing i think i have read in the past is that if a car is being jump started and the terminals are connected the wrong way round, it buggers all the electrics which may have an effect on the ECU and therefore an effect on the idle? There is a chance that the bloke put the terminals the wrong way round as i wasnt watching everything he was doing as i was waiting to turn on my ignition... Nothing else is coming to me and i really need some help, has anybody got a solution to this problem? I have looked on the forums and cant find anything except ICV problems.

Any help would be appreciated very much as i am stranded in Newcastle and live in Leeds!

** The Idle was perfect after mapping until this incident

I would think the battery is a dud. If he connected the leads the wrong way round it can mess up the electrics but it wouldnt jump the car, unless he then swapped them around to the right way...

Just sounds like the battery is dud, you need a constant voltage after the car is started mate, if your not giving it a long drive then take it on a motorway and drive a few miles with it to charge the battery, if it was the alternator then the light would constantly be on.
