how do i work out MPG?

work out how many gallons you have used and how many miles you have done the divide the miles by the amount of gallons

start with full tank and reset trip miles - drive it - fill it back up when required and note how many gallon it used then devide trip mile by number of gallons....

eg:
drove 100 mile
took 4 gallon to fill back up
so car averages in at 25 miles per gallon of fuel used....

put a gallon of fuel in a can
drive around like a Chav till you run out of fuel
tip your can in your tank, reset you mile on your dash then drive till you run out again
look at your milage that's how many miles you done for your gallon

There is 4.546 (round it how you will, I use 4.55) litres to a gallon. That will be useful, as you obviously fill up in litres. So when you fill up, dividing however many litres you get by 4.546 and voila, you now know how many gallons you needed. You divide the number of miles by the number of gallons and there we have it, MPG.
