Hi, my head gasket just blew and has been repaired properly by the garage with head skimmed etc.

Since having it back though, it will not get up to temperature at all, unless im stationary. This morning i drove about 10 miles from cockermouth to maryport and it was not even off the bottom of the gauge, and in freezing conditions, this was not very nice lol..

Took it to the guy who done it and he thinks it is the water pump, but never checked anything because he was too busy. I took the bleed nipples off for the coolant and water was gushing out though so it is obviously pumping.

Could it be the thermostat?

Any help will be much appreciated

Did he put the thermostat back in?
Do the coolant pipes get warm?any hot air out the heaters?

Sounds like there's no thermostat in it

The heater does work, slightly, but only gets up to the temperature it should when sitting idle and not moving, or in traffic, the same with the temperature gauge. Reckon the thermostat just jammed open?

I think there is no thermostat in there.

If it's possible phone the garage and ask to confirm they put a thermostat back in as the car isn't getting upto temperature.

It doesn't sound like the waterpump.

If they have put a thermostat in then could be a faulty temperature sender ?! Clutching at straws here though
