Has anyone used Mr Clutch before? I took my car in this morning for a new clutch and flywheel at £830!!

But i noticed on the website they do a card which gives you 10% off, do you think i could apply on line and use it when i collect the car? As i dont think you get the card straight away but would it give you a reference number?
Thanks

Matt

Is there a gearbox with that.

That is stupidly expensive.

if this is for a dual mass flywheel and clutch on a VAG then price is roughly average

True, with it being a saxo site the first thought will pribably pop into everyones head is that its for a saxo.

I got my clutch changed at the nurburgring, all in was 350euros. Wouldn't pay £830 no matter what the car, short of it being a lambourghini lol!

Sorry it's a passat and it's a dual mass flywheel.

I don't really have much choice it's rough on pull away and makes grindy noises on lift up of clutch.

I need it for work everyday and can't afford for it to go bang and wreck something else. I am also off to Plymouth this saturday looking for a house so will be doing a 5hour trip there and again back.

I've heard good things from them and prefered to leave it with a known garage than one I've not heard off before. I rarely use garages so wouldnt know where plus needed it done asap. Also parts total to £500/600 before labour even discounted from a mate.

Tbh mate if its £830 inc parts and labour for a VAG with a dual mass on then thats a really good price :y:

The 307HDi used to be just shy of £1300 just on the parts :panic: they have a solid flywheel conversion now though which is £450ish

Sounds like you got a fair price though :y:

As for using the 10% voucher, you would be best asking the garage if they will accept it, some places state you have to produce the voucher before ordering etc

Guy down my way had a yellow Diablo, was quoted 6k for a clutch and the Lambo specialists in Stirling wouldn't touch it due to having to shift the engine block 6 inches along the chassis or something like that.

MR CLUTCH oh dear!!!

id not let them change the clutch on mpoed let alone a proper car!!!

most of the branches have a realy shagged flywheel under the counter, tell you need a new one, even if you dont, then when you come in to pay they show you it.

bend over and take it with out lube

Yer after looking on website it says it needs to be mentioned at the beginning whilst handing the car over. Never mind.

Bloody thing. It's the most expensive thing I've ever paid for on any of my cars! But it had done 111,000 on it's original clutch so was in need of a nice new one!

They won't sort it though. For their arrenty to be valid you need to take the car back to them about 6 times at regular intervals for them to check it over. How the fuck do you check a clutch without taking it out again?!

Let me guess, your clutch was gone, but your flywheel was conveniently fubared aswell?

Mr Clutch are a collective bunch of con artists.

Tbh its best to get them both done at the same time I reckon I could of had one done if I wanted I requested the work not them. They did only what I asked and tbh I am impressed with the work its smoother than when I bought it in Jan 10' and they managed to get rid of my engine management light I put on when I removed my EGR pipe!

Not bad service tbh the price they quoted was exactly what I paid!

My mate had his clutch changed there, strangely enough it broke again within a month, it was replaced by them, then broke again.

Then when he went back they told him his flywheel was busted. He went elsewhere in the end.

Only time will tell. After reading reviews there are some good ones and some bad ones like most things so depends on the branch I guess and who is installing and how good they are!

Surely there must be something to regulate this type of thing? I mean how do I know he even fitted the part I paid for he might of bought a refurb and charged me a pristine one?

Ahh the old flywheel trick....

Mr Clutch are the biggest load of shit ever, went into have my clutch done as it was slipping, got a call an hour later "oh hai your flywheel has gone new one is £300 + labour + VAT" . I asked them if i could come and see it as they described it as though it had no teeth left, so i had a look and guess what they tried to point out the tinyest of chips of the teeth missing, told them to get on with just the clutch £200 quid later job done.

6 months later my clutch went along with my crank sensor, went to them with my receipt and proof of warranty, they refused to do it even though i had all the clutch checks and wanted me to shell out another £200 for the next one and also claimed i would need another flywheel and gearbox. Anyways after alot of arguing with the manager and 2days wasted i threatened to ring the office of fair trading and if need be take it further with court. Later that day it had all been fixed free of charge but with a very bad attitude. They would not print another reciept to show it had been done again at that date under warranty either.

They also said i had been wheelspinning the car and racing the car to make this happen, i take very good care of my car and would never do any of this plus if i did my tyres would be bald.

stay away...
