I want to know if I can make my headlights come on when I press the open button on my keyfob.

As if I was walking upto the car, and pressed open on the keyfob, and the headlights automatically come on at the same time.

Is there anyway I can do this?

I want them to stay on once the cars open, so then I can just get in, start the car and go.
Most VW's and Nissan's have the same system but I was wondering wether it could be done to mycar aswell.
Its coming upto winter aswell so this would be neat as dark nights etc, can easily see were my cars parked etc

where night vision mate ;)

bth this would be an achievement to do.

you would have to some serious wiring mate something i wouldn't even attempt and i love wiring

I would have to wire it to something that comes on when I open the car.
Can't think of anything :s I know most cars the interior light comes on but saxo ones don't.
I might find away to make a switch with the door pins or something and do it that way.

trust me it aint that simple if you want it to last. get some good research on how it works on other cars first the thing with this it aint been dont much so research is the key thing here

aint that hard to do, although i think you'll only be able to get them to stay on for a few seconds

find a wire from the central locking module that activates when the unlock button is pressed.

get a relay that is timed (switches on for x amount of time after its been activated)

wire the relay up
out put wire from the relay to the out put wire from the headlight switch on the stalk.

you would need it to be a timed relay anyway, otherwise, if you have unlocked your car to work on it, it will stay on all the time.

i'm not too sure but i'm thinking as the wires for the central locking are only live when the fobs are pressed, if you wired in a capacitor and a diode (so doors don't lock when lights come on!) you could get them to come on when the door unlocks, much like you can get the interior light to stay on for a short period after the doors closed with a capacitor.

although you could also tap into the central locking unit and find which wires become live when you unlock the car, then go from there.

that sound okayish to do but you've got to find a wire to run it from and its not something that can be done by someone who only knows how to wire in a set of LED washer jets is it

Now this is what i was getting at there is alot of custom work and circuits to make. if it was simple and just running a wire from something that activated when the throb is press then everyone would have a similar setup.
