Its not the fuel pump, i can hear the whine from that at the beginning but this is a continuous and louder whine than the fuel pump. Only happens the first time the car is started, any ideas?

I was afraid it was your missus whining that she didn't like your driving at first....Then I saw the video ;)
Lift the back seat up and do it again. Is it louder now? Fuel Pump.

I doubt it, sounds like it was coming from under the bonnet which would lead me to think it was PAS pump still, thats what i had thought it was, just wanted to see if anyone else had any other ideas, i'll unplug the PAS pump tomorrow and see if it still does it!

power steering pump 100% and u need to get it sorted because its going to flatten ur battery, I had a similar issue with mine along with the many other issues easy way to tell its ur pas really is to turn on ur key u hear the sound? Turn the steering... Its easy? Its on lol. Now with mine problem was the alternator shaft was shorting somehow and turning the pas on? Weird i know but changing the alternator some how fixed it. The more likely cause is that the ignition connection points are nackerd or the relay that turns the pas on under the dash is stuck in the on possition.

Infact if anyone here can explain to me how the end of the alternator shaft can cause the pas to turn on and off I would be greatful, Im thinking that perhaps a fault in the alternator had somehow created a circuit that bipassed the ignition and fooled the pas to think that the engine was running?
