how does it work?loads of people on here seem to have decat/straight through pipes so how do you get them through the MOT? do you have a cat on standby that you just put in at the time of MOT or is there a way to get them through
wanting to get a SS system but doing my homework before i commit!

Very often a car can pass an mot without a cat.
If your car has good air to fuel mixture and decat it, it should be ok with mot.
But most people will bolt the standard cat back on when mot time is due.

is it a difficult job or just a few bolts?

if its a 2000 then your cat is under the car and not the manifold.
all you will have to do is buy the decat pipe and bolt that in where the original cat is. its a very easy job. all you have to do is jack the car up and remember use axle stands! ;) 20 mins job.

On the 4-2-1 normally you will have the hole were the lambda screw into. But here are some that won't have that, and i think normally people just cable tie it out the way, but not 100% sure on that :S

Some MOT guys will turn a blind eye. Some just bang the CAT back on MOT time.
TBH, although i noticed quite a considerable gain, I wouldnt bother mate. Unless you plan on keeping your saxo for ages its prob not worth the hassle. After a few weeks the novelty wears off an you just get pissed off with the motorway drone. A stainless exhaust yes. Perhaps even a SS one with a silencer in the middle would sound decent still.
Im looking to get a 206 GTI 180 maybe soon... I will certainly put a lot more thought into it if i decat. Ill be sure to put a centre silencer in my SS exhaust ( if i decat) put it that way. Just to bring the levels down.
IMO, a straight through with decat on a saxo is loud, maybe too loud. It sounds gr8 on a sunny day, when people are out and about and doesnt bother you too much.... but when your pulling away at the lights when its quieter at night or somet, its VERY difficult to not sound like your revving the bollocks off it.
I dont know, maybe its just me and I'm getting old lol.
