View Full Version : Different Centre Console Colours/Designs

I have colour coded my centre console and vents to the same colour as my car (icelandic grey), but thinkin about a change.
I have seen a couple of different designs on here, one colour fading into another, different paint designs etc etc.
Was hoping if anybody with something slightly different/unusual/wierd could post a pic so i can see whtat potential there is.
Cheers :y:

How did yo get the black to come out as specks? Thanks
basicly just follow this what i did
1.sand down the thing you want to spray
2.clean the thing you want to spray getting all dust and bits off it
3.apply a coat of primer (i used grey primer spraying 12inches from surface)
4.wait for that coat to dry 30 - 45 mins
5.then repeat number 3 and 4
6.after the 2 coats of primer have dryed , get your black spray and spray a good distance away from the surface so it doesnt give full coverage or dots of paint and hopefully you will have lil specks of black all over .
7.wait for the specks to dry 20mins
8.apply a coat of clear laquare ( clear coat ) leave to dry for 45mins
9. repeat number 6 with the specks method
10.wait for it to dry then apply a coat of laquare again
11. wait for all layers of paint/laquare to dry/harden over night then your done  sorry for long process only takes around 2 hours 30mins to spray 3-5 things

Cool, so by spraying from a distance will cause the speck look.

Take wheel off,
Then theres just a couple torx bolts holding it in.
Not sure if taking wheel off is 100% necassary but would definately make it much easier.

take the wheel off!!!!!!!! no need at all just undo the little torx screws and you can remove it with the wheel on iv done loads at work and never once had to take the wheel off just makes it a pain in the arse when its a easy job if you take your time. and use your brain i understand why people do take it off but its not worth messing with the airbag if it can be helped cus it hurts like f**k when they go off on you trust me i know.

cool thats tomorows job sorted :)
roughly where is the torx?
Bedford126
2nd November 2010, 22:11
as you look at the clocks they are on the top facing up towards the roof. there tiny and need a tiny torx key or a tiny torx driver to undo them.

Would love to know what the 'messing around' relates to. Maybe disconnecting the battery then undoing a couple torx screws? You really class that as messing around?
Taking wheel off is a 2 minute job and makes easy fitting and removal, just what you need if you've just spent a few days spraying it and don't want to scratch it.
But yeah, whatever - everyone does things different i suppose.

Got the torxs out but the panel will not budge :(
Does it need seriously pulling or is there something else holding it?

umm no there are 4 for that dials surround thats why people take the wheel off cuz the connection bits get it the way of the 2 that are at the bottome take the plastic off around the wheel that is two torx in the bottom of it and it will all unclip the you should be able to see the 2 torx at the bottom dunno how to get to them without takin wheel off thats why i havent done mind yet lol
