Im looking at getting a Civic VTI 1.6 for my next car. I love these shaped civic's, and love the way they can be modified. What do people think of them? I like the 'Jordan' Models, but all in yellow. Any one on here had one, And opinions & comments on them?

most of those are ek9's...
probs not noticeable to a lot of people but they have a lot of different extras etc
ek's are the nicest shape though, definately

Nice cars the old Civics, dont let some of them on here tell you that there crap because they quite simply are not!

1.6 vti's are pretty good performers along with being quite reliable, aftermarket parts can be a little expensive most of the time though, thats the only downside to them i suppose, other than that cracking little motors.

Im a Honda fanboy and I can tell you you don't get much more bang for your buck than a VTI. Beware though mate insurance prices, fuel prices and tax is set to rise very soon and owning such a fast car at a young age could prove problematic so be careful what you buy

Note: The EK (1996-2000) VTI uses the B16B engine from the Type R basically, thats why they are so fast. 200bhp is no problem with these

my crx del sol esi was level par with a vts, and that was the baby vtec.
iirc the vti is around 150 odd bhp?

b16a2 - 160bhp

d15 sohc vtec - iirc roughly 130 bhp

you should get one.. the a2's a brilliant engine but then again so is the b16b :)

like above, the only problem with jap cars is the price of parts :( iv noticed this, big time!

In standard form theyll put you to sleep you NEED exhaust, induction and coilys before theyre anywhere near what they should be..

Anyone who disagrees have never been in one and/or an EG6.

Ek9's as nice as they are demand too much premium for the price everything else is better in the market :homme:

Thanks for the advice. Still think im gonna get one though. All down to own opinions at the end of the day. I might turn out to have the same view as you, or the complete opposite.

Ek4's (1.6 vti) iirc are slightly slower than a vts, still cool though, barely notice the difference in looks between one and a ek9 (except the badges ofc)

EK4 and EK9 are just like the VTR and VTS. Pretty Same looks, just different power. Prefer the civics over the saxo's, so this time next year will hopefully have went jap and got rid of the shed.

For a car with 160bhp they arent all that quick.Still a 1.6 with fook all torque to pull it along the road.They arent exactly the lightest of hatches either.

Had a go against 1 up at Crail in my old XE Corsa with 150bhp.Looked promising for him till i got into 2nd gear and pulled its pants down.He wasnt a happy bunny.

A VTS and an EK4 are both ~160bhp/tonne. The VTS will edge it off the line, but overall it's pretty even.

EK4s look absolutely pish standard compared to '9s..

As a fanboy I would of expected you to know that the EK VTi uses the B16a2 which (other than capacity) has nothing in common with a B16b from the EK9,I could really bore you and explain the differences but I won't. Also as for 200bhp being easily available what a laugh I had a import B16a running 190bhp and believe me that extra 10hp is not easy to find so on a UK engine you'd need to find 20hp extra.

Also I find the EK4 to be slow,boring and not as nice a place as an EG6.

I love EK Hatch's, A friend of mine has got a lime green EK4 with a b18 turbo'd lump in it and it really is Beautiful! His Brother Also has a Jordan Which is smart which is currently for sale, fantastic condition and he only wants 2.5 for it, completely standard. V-tec Sound FTW!

My next door neighbour owned one of these, it was a jordon. Yellow with black bonnet, rims and detailing. Was a very nice motor never let him down once, i fitted his performance cams for him. Excelent cars IMO

But as you well know not all Saxo drivers are the same.

Most Civics around near me are 1.4 EJ9s driven by old people.
