anyone tried to buy a car from one?
i have bought 2 cars but never from bidding always buy a 'provisional sale' so that means its not reached the reserve and offer what they want and drive away,
today though brought a mini cooper s and had to pay £300 deposit cash even though i wanted to buy the whole car on my card and drive out later on, went to the bank and, because i hadnt paid the deposit people could place offers, some shite had brought my car for less as what i bid, i was gutted and it was a 2004 mini cooper s for £4500 bargain :drink:
anyone had any horror stories or happy affairs?
i find that there can be some problems but a bit of tlc sorts out and you have a good car.
apart from the saxo i brought that private and its going to the scrappy lol :boxing:

I don't understand.
Is it?
Why?
im going to run it into the ground as my second car as its too much hassal to sell it
and to buy the car as in pay for it whole when the hammer bangs and he pointed at me you have to pay a cash deposit off 300 pounds, until you do your bids are cancelled so its open to offers in the main office.
i was gutted as i wanted to pay it all in one go... rules are rules i guess

I love the car auctions so many deals to be had.
Got a Pug 307 57 plate obviously didn't realise there was a head gasket gone for what I thought was a steal at 3k. Struggled to sell it on but then out of the blue a guy rang me up offered me a RX8 for it i nearly took his arm off lol sold it on for 5k shabang!

Bought 2 cars from auction, 1st was a nightmare... needed loads of work to it.
The latest is spot on, FSH, immaculate, bargain, runs fine and havn't had a problem =D
Just got to be that little bit more careful, but you can find some bargains

totally agree, ive found quite a few, but in all honesty these days you dont go to a car auction to buy a car to keep, your either there to buy a car to sell on, or to sell a car you cant get rid of

nope but have being there a few times when i lived in telford, prefer the one on the a41 at prees.
Used to get alot better cars there, mainly ex fleet.
I work for british car auctions, know a chap who paid £250 for a gen3 jdm prelude 2.2 that needed a respray

Instead of scrapping it, I'll give you scrap value + £25, kk?
Nice.

wilsons auction in telford is shit , the small auctions only ever have shit car which people have problems with so they send them down there , my dad holds a gold rated acount with Brittish car auctions who are ausome , they mainly deal with fleet , snatchbacks and motability and you never really get a problem ,

think they are good for some things. Me mates dad wanted something to replace his knackered disco and found a V10 tourag for a steal and its awesome, had no problems so far!! But then there will always be horror stories of buying shit....

i brought an ax from auction for £80!! You have very limited time to look at the cars and most of the time no history, but you can grab some serious bargains there, i saw a 1800 escort 3dr alloys aircon etc etc go for £80 also!
sometimes worth the risk for cheaper cars!
