it started yesterday, everytime i pulled up at traffic lights or at a junction. and was either in neutral or in 1st gear. The car would just cut out and die on me.

what could be causing this?

O really? What are them funny things my mk1 has on then? :S im pretty sure they aree HT leads ;) Thats on mk1's though.

The later ones have 'extensions' that go into the coil pack which kind of look like a pencil coil

Anyway back on topic.

Sounds like the plugs are the issue here, could however be the coil pack as these break up in cold weather :n:

When is it due its next service? Or how long since it was last done?

Possibly mate. They do break up quite often in the cold weather. Extensions corrode inside aswell

just been out driving, and it stalled as i was driving. Could it more than the coilpack causing this? or something completely different? didn't have foot on clutch or anything was just driving in second.
