Anyone else agree that this store has gone down hill lately... (it has at my local one) I went in last week asked if they had any tool sets and autoglym products, the ones i wanted for both were out of stock (he told me to call back in a week.
A week on i rang them and they said they had some in, new stock arrived today.....
I go in there the same day to find there still both out of stock?!
Useless pricks.
I think halfords has now turned into more of a general store, with bikes, etc, it has certainly gone downhill!
P.S - i did also go in there to get a fire gasket aswell but was abit surprised when the guy said we dont do them here.

halfords have always sold bikes!!!!
as for the autoglym stuff, muc better stuff on sale in the shop like the meguirs range and most of the cleaning stuff you can get else where cheaper.
as for fire rings, they dont stock every part for eveyr car, you would of being better off going to van beeks donnington wood the fire ring they would of had one, they also sell autoglym

I just said i thought the guarantee meant it was like for like replacement, the guy pondered for a minute before voiding the difference :)

Its because they dont really give staff the training, and also because they often hire idiots who dont know what half the car parts are. This leads to them saying they dont have it.

haha, too right. I rang several times for them to pick up.
They lost me as a customer many moons ago (I don't to know how they justify selling a lightbulb for £15 compared to any other shop), bought their 2 for 1 windscreen wash liquid, absolutely feckin' useless, cleans sod all.. Bought a faulty satnav, they wouldn't exchange it or give my money back. They eventually did refund me when I told them I was going to court.
My brother gave it a go, bought a battery. Dead, brought back in the shop, exchanged for another dead one, went back, exchanged for another dead one, went back...(pause) Had them to test the next one, was dead too. Got a refund, and that's how they lost another customer.
Everyone i know of agree they are clueless beyond belief.

I try my best when I'm working there but we're always short staffed so it makes things so difficult to learn about some things and I've near no experience with fitting even though I've been there since May.
We get sooo many complaints and a lot about the manager who isn't even helpful to most people. Sets a good example :P

I went in their a few weeks back for a new bulb for the rear. £2.49 for 2 didnt think it was that bad compared to most of their stuff.. The bloke did offer to fit it too, he didnt say for how much tho. I said nah im okay, i can manage.

Maybe I was a little harsh. Fair enough to fit a battery, because if you do it wrong it's dangerous. But £5 to fit wheel trims is laughable. Still, if they are offering these services, people must be taking them up on that offer.
It says next to some items' price "Fitting: £4.99" or something like that. Not on everything though of course.

Halfords are expensive. went in to get a new battery for my car, low end quality battery was like £65 and the decent one was like £80... went to motor parts direct picked up a top brand one costing me only £45! and brake pads are like £26 in halfords, picked up some for £17.99 in motorist dicount. Also when i go in the staff always seem to be misirble :S then again i cant blame them working at that place.

Well talking about Halfords. I'll let you in to a little secret. Anyone know of a company called Nationwide Crash Repair or Nationwide Auto Centre. Major company up and down the country used by many insurance and leasing companys. Well now they have been brought out by Halfords and call Halford Repair Centres. So think they are trying to move into the actually fitting and fixing market. I can see it now, all the local chavs at the local shop, ordering parts and then going to the centre to have them fitted :y: lol

I work for halfords!!! and tbf we have got some 16 years olds that work in our store that are complete retards and just fuck everything they touch up! and when you talk about fitting prices, go to your dealers and ask them how much they would want for a fits, halfords just beat the price of main dealers but halfords is an awesome place to work depending on what the other staff are like!
