think my gearbox is knackered...
put it into first and lift the clutch up to goto pull away and get horrible noises! does drive but pulling away is very noisy and horrible
is this a new gearbox jobbie?

either that or a driveshaft is breaking up

are you sure its not the clutch itself breaking up then?

good point, will have to look into it... thought it was the gearbox as it has been a bit whiney too

may well be the box but worth checking other options first

Whether It's the clutch or the box, it's gotta come out either way. I have the same problem at the moment, 99% sure it's the gearbox though.

i just been out with my mate and went to pull away (with hanbrake on) so that it put a bit of strain/pressure against the engine and didnt make no noise what so ever, done it again a couple of times n 3rd time doing this it then made the noise
he thinks it may be gearox/middle mount?
could it be this? like where its vibrating against the middle mount or something

Does it actually pull away? The problem is that it just makes a noise?
Pull away in 4th and let us know what happens

yes mate the car drives, once you pull away you can drive and change gear fine its just pulling away when you get the noise

sounds similar to what happened to my 106, the noise would only be there when you pulled off after that it was fine, mine turned out to be the lower gearbox mount was tearing away from the car

what did you do to fix this? just replace the lower mount?
i did ask about this mount before as i get a bang now and again when pulling away, not a loud bang and its not all the time either

cut wot was still holding on the car off, welded a plate over the hole it left and then welded the mount back in place

i think its quite common for the mounts to tear off the chassis, as ive had 3 106's with the same problem.
