Set the scene.
I was driving from my offce to local industrial estate to pick up new PC for work....A cop car coming in opposite direction to me drove past me and then swang around in road on with the sirens....at this point he was 2 cars behind me....I turned off for my turning and drove into the industrial estate....Park up and pick up my PC....come out of builidng and copper is waiting there looking into my car....
Comes over and says "You werent wearing your seatbelt sir?" I replied "Yes I was" this could of gone on forever he couldnt prove it so I was OK....and then he told me to "Shut my fucking mouth"........mmmmmmmmm.
Ask for my documents and then let me go...what a waste of time...got his badge number smileys/smiley4.gif

I hate Rent-a-cops!
What age was he mate?
Usually whenever Ive been stopped they've been quite young and have big-man syndrome
what a joke! they really do take the piss!
the one thing that i wanna know about police is:
if they dont have their lights or sirens going - do they HAVE to abide the rules which every other road user uses?
sorry for hijack - just a random thought
sounds a knob though adam

Many moons ago (i am old) when I was severnteen just past test and was late for work, out from between two parked cars jumps a cop with his hand up to stop me. He dents bonet, cracks windscreen and dents boot as he goes over back. Taken to court but cos I had two witneses to say that I had no chance in the distance he gave me I got off. Took 18 months to get money out of them for damage and every time (well it felt like) I went out in a car I got a tug and a producer. It got so bad that I had to get my brief to complain of police harassment as I had nine producers in severn days. Who says that the police dont stick together and hold grudges!!!!
me and my mate got pulled on sunday if you sore my theard.
They thought my mnates standard exhaust was moddifled smileys/smiley5.gif

I've not had any problems as such with the police. The other day I was driving to a mates doing just under 30 in a 30limit. Suddenly a car comes right up my arse, the car kept on making it look like they were going to overtake, but they didnt. There was LOADS of space for them to overtake but they didn't. This went on for a good 10 minutes, eventually the car overtook (doing around 45 in a 30), as they went past I saw that it was a police car!
5 minutes down the road I see them pulled over going into the local shop. Things like this really piss me off, they were blatently trying to get me to speed up so they could do me for speeding - so they decide to speed themselves. For what I know, the police are not allowed to speed unless they have their lights on because they have to be somewhere important (not to get some food!).
Theres the police trying to catch us all the time, but it's ok for them to follow a car in a dangerous manner, speed past all to get some food.

my mate got pulled outside of the local college, he had a chirade gtti, the turbo ones, police guy made him pop his bonnet and he looked around his engine, said thats not a 1ltr, my mate was arguing that it was, he gave him all the shit about it not being declared about the engine, he got traffic cops down and there was a bit of a crowd, traffic cop just went, yeah thats the 1ltr turbo...other cop musta felt like a dick

I believe you are entitled to see the video. Pop down to the police station.
EDIT - infact i'm sure you can see the tape. To be honest, i'm not sure how much of a case you would have as you still broke the speed limit.

when i had my ax gti i was pulled in a car park in york.
i was waiting for afew mates to have them a lift home from town(2am)
2 police fellas walked up to me and a mate and asked wot we was doing.
we say just waiting for mate giving them a lift back home.
and then they asked to look around the car i sed yeah sure they looked around the car and lastly got to the boot.
they opened the boot and found nothing and when when on to smach the rear window!!!
as sum of you will know if u smach the window on an ax the boot falls off!!!
so when the police legged it with me and 4 mates(just turned up) after them one of me mate court one of them and took the bagde nub and the van reg(which they hid around the corner)
so when we jumped into the car and when to the police station.
but 3 mins after setting i was pulled for having no boot!!!
so i sed wot had happened and the new police fella sed bullshit boy!!!
he when just walked away!!!
so got the police station and tryed to report it and the counter sed we r to busy for this now coming back 2morra!!!
so i when back and reported it and 2 days later the police rang up and sed there is no prove nothing can be dun.
and i will also add that car park had cctv all over it!!!!

When I took my car in for it's MOT there was a police officer there. He literally said to me:
"So, how many times have you been pulled over in that then?"
I've actually never been pulled over in my car, he said it's probably because I'm a girl, but if he was bored one evening with nothing better to do he would pull my car over.
So they do stop you for no good reason. But, to be honest, if I wasn't in a hurry or anything I doubt I would mind too much. I've got nothing to hide.

Police dont always use the blues and twos, if traffics not that bad and depending on the incident they may be attending they wont use either and will make good progress whenever possible.
for example: if theres a break in progress its better to not use blues and sirens becuase firstly they'll hear the sirens and they;; leg it before the police have got anywhere near, and secondly if its night time you can see the blue glow of the lights well in advance.
also not all police have the training to be first response to incidents so arent allowed to respond with blues/sirens so again have to make fast progress where possible

They do not need to make fast progress to a local shop to buy some food do they? There was no excuse for them speeding past me - after attempting to make me speed up (I guess they wanted to do me for speeding).
I agree that there are times that it would be best they do not have their sirens going. However, in the interest of other road users safety, its best that they have the lights going when they are travelling over the speed limit.

Traffic cops are all pricks on power trips in my experience. They've wasted my time on many occasions and got absolutely nothing. More than once i've had to 'drive dangerously' just to get out the way of a cop car which has been driving like a twat.
