with coilover i think you can control ride high and how much they dampen the ride

If you lower the car by 50mm, then it's adviseable to buy uprated shocks/dampers.
What size wheels do you have? If you have 15's, you shouldn't have any rubbing. If you have 16's, then you will.
Coilovers are if you are wanting to adjust the ride height on a regular basis. They can lower your car down to practically anything you want hence the price. They're not really worth it if you're just wanting to lower the car 50mm and keep it at that.
How about looking at buying a suspension kit as opposed to just springs? Some kits already come up with uprated shocks/dampers.

As above. If you're wanting a cheap solution, then lower it 40mm. Springs will cost you about £50 max. Fitting can be around £120, which includes front and rear.
But remember... you pay for what you get.

i'm down 40mm mate, you notice the difference but not that bad, my mate is down 60 and i think it's too hard for me personally so i'd stick with 40mm
