Hi
My average mileage was only 5000 a year, but since girlfriend has moved to uni im having to travle a fair bit at weekends and my average is now 12000, do i have to phone insurance company and declare this?

personally i wouldnt.. but some would say its wrong.. voiding insurance ect

Yes you should disclose this as it is a change in circumstances which could have an effect on your premium.

You do need to declare it.
More mileage = More risk of accident

Pretty much common sense, the quote asked how many miles you did per year when you took it out.
Thats now changed, you need to tell me.

If u crash it and you have covered more than 5000 miles from your last MOT some wont pay out. A friend of myne had a civic told his insurance he did 3000miles...
7months later, crashed it, when they looked at his MOT he had done said 78,000miles.(there abouts) then when they looked at cars mileage said 84,000.. would not pay out

ive always gone over the mileage. never had a problem with claims etc. probably one of those things where if your extremely unlucky you could find yourself in a world of shit
