alternator

i have a saxo vts 2002 i got a new alternator today from a parts suplier i gave him my reg and he gave me an 80 amp bosch. when i went to fit it i noticed that it didnt have the connection for the plug. what is the correct one that should be on the car?

Did he give you the one with just the ring connector ?

Yeah think hes given me that. Do you know what alternator should be on it and is it an 80 amp one. Garage told me had 70 amp one on car and couldnt understand how hadnt gone sooner.

This happened to me mate i bought a supposedly MK2 Vtr alternator and the old style one appeared. Take it back you need the one that has a ring connector and also a two pin plug i think it is this controls the battery light on the dash and something to do with the power steering i think.

But take it back and have it swapped :D

i took it back today and fitted it there was a 90 amp and a 70 amp i ended up getting the 70 hope its the right one it seems to be ok now. thanks for the help.
