does it turn over like its trying to start ?
Can you hear the fuel pump prime? ie when you flick the key on you can hear like a charging noise?

Is the battery connected to the small fuse box??
By wont start do you mean it was fire or wont ever turn over?
Claki
17th November 2010, 22:58
i went to help him with it earlier. theres no fuel prime, no dash lights exept battery light. all earths in the engine bay are good. ALL fuses are good. and it wont turn over at all. and the little LED alarm light in the interior seems to not be taking power.
ideas??

Have you tried to jump star it ?

18th November 2010, 15:50
i know you say it isnt a fuse, but summit like this happened to me a coupke of weeks ago and i had blown one of the big fuses in the small box in engine bay,
MunkyBoy
18th November 2010, 16:04
Agreed with the fuse. If not wires are touching where they weren't before, and there is no more draw on the battery than before... Its a pretty main fuse thats gone.
Have you checked the fuses in the small box in the engine bay? there are some big relays in there aswell.
When you connected the cable to the battery, where exactly did you connect it to? Was it the little nut in the box by the battery? Or actually onto the battery itself?
Also, did you have the inline fuse in the cable before you connected it? You should leave it out and put that in last.
LaZzY
18th November 2010, 16:08
ye all the inline fuses were in. i connected the subs main to the little nut, last nyt i had power to sub until i turned the power off now theres no power to the sub hmmm. all fuses have been checked which really confuses me
MunkyBoy
18th November 2010, 16:15
If you left the inline fuse in when you connected it, it could have blown a fuse elsewhere... As its technically becoming live as soon as you try and connect it. Whereas if you leave the inline out, it only becomes live when the fuse is inserted.
Have you really tried all of the fuses? It seems to me that it is either a main fuse in the bay, or a relay thats gone?
saxo02
18th November 2010, 16:15
this is a weird one, have you disconnected your sub,see if it works then?
saxo02
18th November 2010, 16:18
just to clarify, when i did this i had blown the 80 amp fuse in the small box, double check it mate
LaZzY
18th November 2010, 20:30
right just had a check of all fuses and they are all fine none blown. turning the key and gettting only the battery light nothing else no sound. i really dont kno wat to try tbh kind of need to drive the car asap. could be earths but i dont see y that would just happen from connecting the sub

LSOfreak
19th November 2010, 00:45
try jump starting it. if not, do you have a friend who has a saxo or 106 that you can swap relays with to see if its a fooked relay?
saxo02
19th November 2010, 01:34
try bumping,if not it may be a relay like lsofreak said, keep us updated, ill look into it.

have you checked if theres any broken wires,im guessin you took your battery off when you did your sub,if not you could have shorted summit.

as said already i had this in my old saxo after putting a new system init! i was forever blowng fuses ever since even after it was removed! il dig out the pic of all the ones i went though.....not good at £2.50 a throw
when i eventually broke the car it turned out to be where my mate had drilled the scuttle for the cable, letting water it...to drip onto the fuse box!

similar problem i had today, car wouldnt start after installing a new sub and when it did it cut out, but after a while it eventually started and runs fine now :S strange
LaZzY
20th November 2010, 12:20
right i have a the sub worknig now all that was loose rem cable. it doesnt make any sense all main engine fuses work, but over half the fuses in the engine fuse box dont work but they arent blown just no power going to them. my LED light for my alarm still isnt on which makes me think the car is immobilsed but ive tried the prosedure of disarming it and still nothnig.

Woody91
20th November 2010, 15:02
Is the car actually turning over at all? If it is does it keep on trying or start to die off after a few seconds?
Paddy27
20th November 2010, 15:58
Might sound a bit daft, but is the battery positive lead tight? I had a problem with the wifes mgf, that would lock and unlock with the central locking, but put the key in and it was dead. Turned out it was the positive lead that was loose!
LaZzY
20th November 2010, 16:17
na man everything is tight. battery is fine its deffo an ingnition probs just really cant solve it dont kno wat i can try. all it does it go onto the battery light nothing else so solinoid nothing

maybe retrace what wireing you have done and disconnect it, just to see,if you need to drive it its worth a shot

If you have tried everything you can think of and also tried every suggestion on here, the next step is to take it to a garage that deals with electrics
Woody91
20th November 2010, 18:14
Have you gone through a switched live from the ignition? Have you grounded a positive cable? Have you got good earths on EVERYTHING you have done?
blaconbomber
20th November 2010, 21:21
could amp be drawing too much current? disconnect amp and see if itll start then
LaZzY
21st November 2010, 14:41
right maybe see the problem. by the grommet theres 3 cables green, yellow, red. theres some copper showing on the red and yellow. which makes me think that the red has shorted with the alarm cable. all fuses ok though but gonna try and access the alarm cable which is gonna be a bitch. right under the dash

21st November 2010, 14:50
i say double check all the fuses and see if any of them has gone? :)
Woody91
21st November 2010, 15:41
If they come from the alarm then red is power yellow is usually trigger so you could have grounded the immobiliser trigger causing it not to deactivate.
