View Full Version : Removing drug markers from car...

Well - Just got pulled over for having a side numberplate on the way home... Told him it was legal, and was there anything else?

He asked all the usual shit of Tax / MOT / Insurance... Was it my car? Was I up to anything suspicious?

He then told me the car had various drug markers on it, were they from me? I obviously said no... because they aren't! He asked to search the car, which I let him... But apparently the guy before me had drug markers put on the car...

Is there anyway I can legally get these removed as the car has changed owners? Don't really fancy that being on the police's mind if they ever pull me again?

A good wash with shampoo and hoover it out to get rid of any markers on it.

He was lying. If it had drug markers on it every cop car you pass would pull you. He was hoping you had drugs so he could do you for something because you made a fool of him by knowing his job better than he did.

Probably wasn't lying, my mum had no problem with her old company car, till randomly 2 years after having it she was pulled 6 times in 1 day. Previous user of the vehicle was caught drink driving in the car, the marker CAN be removed, it involves taking all of your details to your local police station (insurance documents, Logbook, Driving License and another form of ID) and proving the car has since changed hands. Good luck with it :)

Yep im sure i seen something like this on a cop programme. The marker only showed up when they done a radio check on the vehicle because it used to belong to a drug dealer.

i have had drug markers on my ek9 as the previous owner was a weed dealer. i just went to the poliece station with 5 producers and he asked why i had so many and he told me to take in my log book and proof of id and he removed them. it also causes trouble at the docks going to the ring if the car has markers of any sort on it.

A.N.P.R camera's win tbh. Clever invention

So clever that with a split second looking at a number plate it can tell Tax, Mot, Insurance and any previous convections.

It probably says where the car is registered too.

When he asked to search my car - he wasn't impressed when I said yes - only if he got me my coat out for me because I was bloody cold.

I'll try ringing my local police today, and see what they say.

:homme: Lol. As people have said, probably just wanted to search the car. I got stopped 11 times in a week for apparently having no insurance or tax, even though the tax disc was clearly in the window and I had the docs with me for insurance. 1 of the guys slipped up though the spaz....when he radio'd through with the details he didn't walk away (all the rest had for some reason) and the response was 'this is the 4th time we have checked the car today and it IS insured). Turned out there was a similar one around who had been driving like a cock, not insured and the car wasn't taxed. So they just wanted an excuse to pull me to check my car over even though I had done nothing wrong :n:

Just rang the police - The woman said she would ring me back with more information.

Had a phone call back, got the name of the officer who stopped me - She suggested I talked to him when he came back on nights tonight - as the PNC is showing no markers on my car.

Have his shoulder number now, Will be giving him a call tonight.

sounds like a pain in the ass having that on your motor!
in this day and age when the car is re registered to the new owner, one would think that it should automaticaly remove the info on the police national computer check.
but i guess thats to simple!
i suppose your going to have to go to your local nick or phone them up and sort it out

One of my female friends is a cop and she's seen this all the time. They pull you over for whatever reason and because they don't find anything to do you for they try to find even the tiniest detail wrong, because they feel like an arse when you prove you're 100% legal.

Sad IMO

a few of my cars have had markers, if it was true the police take your details and if all is correct they get the markers removed, as for the post saying why doesnt it automatically update, they dont change unless asked to because many ppl get the owner names of the car changed to mates, uncles, mothers, pet rabbit etc, and still use the car, if the markers were removed theyd slip through the net after an owner change

you can get the marker taken off, not good that some dealer has used your car.

Be careful where you park it ;)

My GTi has it - what a pain in the cunt by the way!!!!

first time i ever got stopped, i panicked and pulled into a street.

i was obviously trying to 'get away' because i had drugs int he car. they pulled apart the pu - back seats down and everything. went through my handbag ( and respectful guy knows NEVER to go through a lassies bag) left me standing in the freezing cold at 3am, then drove me home to produce my insurance as the database wasnt showing it., leaving my car UNLOCKED 8 miles from home in a rough area.

oh - and i got an asbo for my trouble!

I was stopped a few months back and was told that I had a marker, even though the lady who had my car last was 73! Turns out there was no marker, just an excuse to search my car :P

markers do exist on cars...

Not always on PNC, PNC only really shows r/k, insurance... etc etc

In the met we have a system called CAD (dont know if other forces use it)... when we ask for a vehicle check they do a PNC check and a CAD check, CAD is where these "markers" are... (CAD is basically a log of what is done... if you phone 999 a CAD is created, same as if I were to stop a car, I can ask for a CAD to be created, so if I need assistance they know where i am, what im dealing with etc)

A car can come back known to CAD.. ie, drugs, weapons, drink drive etc etc... This will then give us grounds to search

to my knowledge you cannot have it removed, if done properly, next time it should come back as known for drugs, also satisfactory stop on so and so date... new keeper, bla bla bla

The systems dont interlink, so really its down to the officer to ask for updates etc
