Right, im sick of everyone in the papers and on tv saying he shouldnt of been sent off...

Whats everyones opinions?

Personally i think the ref was right to send him off, i was actually pleased as i hate him!

He stopped a clear goal, even if there had been advantage played i think he should of been sent off, he never went for the ball he just grabbed eto's ankle there was no way he could of got ball!

Ref should of played advantage and left him on even though he was the last man.

they should count themselves lucky really arsenal as i dont see why the goal cudnt have stood then the keeper had been sent on his way. it was a deliberate attempt to stop the man, defenders get sent off for it all the time when its a last man situation

As far as i am aware you can't play advantage and then pull back the play to send someone off... you could only play advantage and book him... or stop the play and send him off...

To be honest it doesn't really matter what decision the ref. made, he regrets his decision and has apologised - even he thinks he should have stayed on the pitch...

But the ref. might as well have been wearing a barca shirt - every decision went there way.. other than the eboue dive smileys/smiley17.gif but barca's first goal was offside... it all swings in roundabouts... personally i think we should have a 4th official rule...

im kno you can play the advantage and then book someone, i dont see why it should be any diffrent with a red card, especially on a goal scoring oppurtunity like the other night

matt i dont think ive got anything else left to do smileys/smiley24.gif

Most annoying thing about football....decisions in and around the penalty box. if they happened on half way line free kick every time, in the box or just outside nothing happens. Ref need to actually to actually give decisions how they should be and not be scared to give penalties etc

The fact is, the reason someone in his position got sent off is because he stopped a clear goal scoring opportunity. The ref should have not been so hasty in blowing up and let the game go for a second to see Guily put the ball in the back of the net.

If he let the game go (which everyone including him says he should have) he couldn't have sent off Jens as a clear goalscoring opportunity was not stopped, they scored!.

Was it a sending off, 110% yes, but the ref should have played advantage, absolutely anywhere else on the pitch it happens so why not in the box.

Oh and I'm not even an Arse fan.

yeah but what im saying is, if he had let play go, he still tried to stop a goal scoring chance, surely for that he should still be sent off after the goal?

I dont think there was that much contact in the tackle but he did deserve a red card as he was the last man and stopped a clear goal scoring oppertunity. Im sure Arsenal would have like him to stay on the pitch and for the goal to be given.

its the letter of the law to send the last man off who commits a foul, so the refs made the correct choice.

Think the ref made the right decision, last man rule and all that.

I'm sure all the Arsenal fans will disagree but, they shouldn't, blame Henry!!

i think it was 50/50 either way the ref was correct he had 2 options both of which would have been correct so he did make a good decision although from a neutral POV 11 on 11 would have made a better match.

he did make some poor decisions but this one i feel was not one of them

but then it was his pass that set eto off only for that german cheat to pull him down!

he had a quiet game by his standards, but then he only has to do a few things to change the game
