Hi guy`s name is stephen bought a 52 plate saxo vts the other day that needs a fair bit of work done to it but i truely belive that it can once again be a spectacular machine. it`s clearly had a very hard life and not much TLC. so thought i better register here for some good advice and knowledge. the first major thing that i have noticed is when driving the car and lifting off the accelerator it starts to make a howeling noise like there is a red indian under the bonnet but this goes away when you put the foot down does any one have any ideas???

is it more of a whining noise, and does it sound like its on the gearbox side or the cambelt side :y:

HI defo not a whining noise i would say the cam belt side it sounds like a wheel bareing noise but i don`t think it is. if this makes sence??

okay, so the noise is whilst driving only ,or does it when you are stationary? if so then what speeds does the noise occur at?

yeah only when driving. the slower the louder the noise gets if i put my foot down it completly goes away take my foot off and it`s straight back.

sounds more like a driveshaft (intermediate) bearing , i think vts have a bearing on the drivers side driveshaft, they can howl when they go, mine did this at 60mph, and if i accelerated then it would go away, never did it at lower speeds though, does it sound likethe noise in the vid below :y:

yeah, that will be the driveshaft bearing, its a horrible noise, you can almost feel it through the pedals , i think you'l be better off getting a new driveshaft from euro car parts, there pretty good :y:

you would need an o/s/f driveshaft (drivers side) :y: i think there about 45 quid from euro car parts and places like GSF would do them aswell :y:
